It took me only a few minutes to replace the switch myself. It took me holding down the R key on my manual stick shift in order to activate the back lights on my truck. Although it's not a big deal, it makes parking in tight spots very awkward. I have to crane my neck around to avoid hitting someone. It can be installed by yourself if you know how to use A deep 19mm socket, wire snips, and ratchet wrench are included. Get under your truck (I did not even have to lift it) and locate where the switch is - this will be near the top of the transmission near the engine. It is best to Google the location of the switch so that you do not get the wrong one out. Removing the old switch with the deep 19mm socket will require you to cut the two wires from the plastic wire connector (DO NOT CLIP THE WIRE HARNESS THAT IS PART OF THE TRUCK). I had a couple of different deep sockets, and I had to be careful to use the one that wasn't too deep but also not too shallow. At that location, the transmission is tucked snugly between the cab frame and the transmission. Test the switch and wires in your deep 19 mm socket to ensure that they Back up your truck and screw in the new switch with a deep socket by hand. Insert the ratchet after you have fully tightened by hand, and continue to adjust until you reach the desired tension. DON'T overtighten! Renew your vehicle's air filter while it's under your truck Put the plastic wire connector back on the wire harness of the vehicle and connect it to the battery. Your lights are now tested, so you are done. Tips for beginners If you do not need to get under the truck, try assembling the plastic wire connector while you are not there. Make sure you do not force anything, as this will break the plastic. The process will take around 15 minutes to install if you already have the tools. When you don't have a 19mm deep socket, you can pick one up from Sears or Harbor Freight.
The price point is great and the product Compared to OEM, the OEM cost was three times more. If you want to remove the original, you should go online and watch some YouTube videos on how to do it since you cannot get the torque needed to do it.
