I was unsure whether or not it would work. I was on the verge of ordering the $200 unit instead, but I decided to give this shaft a shot. I'd only lose $8 if it didn't work or if I damaged the controller. It, on the other hand, was flawless. Dismantling the center console to reach the COMMAND controller was the most difficult part of the job. I finally had the confidence to start after watching several YouTube videos, and luckily I had some plastic pry tools on hand to remove some of the panels without damaging them. br>br>Within a half-hour, I had the COMMAND controller off the shelf and on the bench, ready to dismantle. Even after watching several videos, it took me half an hour to figure out how to remove the knob from the controller, but once I did, dismantling the controller was a breeze. When I dismantled the system, it was clear that the issue was the poorly-designed system. original plastic shaft that was designed br>br>It was simple to reassemble - All you have to do now is pay attention to the alignment of the numerous small components. br>br>However, for the pittance of $8, I was able to get my car's navigation system working again. (It took me 3 hours to complete this task. ) I have yet to receive a price from the dealer, but I expect it to be in the $500 - $600 range. I'm sure they'll charge $200 for labor in addition to the $310 list price for the controller.

On my 2008 C63, there is a scroll/rotation function. For those with a mechanical bent, it's simple to put together. On the internet, there are a plethora of how-to videos and instructions. 👍.
