This is a product that you should not purchase! A replacement was sent after the first one was defective - with a similar issue The wires on the inside are not properly connected. The green wire had come loose before I could even connect it to my fan wiring, as you can see in the photo. I have no choice but to attempt to repair this BRAND NEW item because my car has been off the road for three days due to the first faulty part. You've been forewarned. br>br>.
This is where you'll need to make the necessary adjustments. It resolves a problem with a faulty relay in the MINI Cooper. We use them frequently and they are very effective. This is where you'll need to make the necessary adjustments. don; n't use the internet to find home-made methods!.
To work, it must be modified. The resistor (visible metal spring) and a plastic box are the only components, despite the title. This was something I was aware of prior to making the purchase. br>br>Although less expensive than a new aftermarket fan, this part's manufacturing quality is poor. br>br>The spot welds connecting the copper leads to the pads crimped to the resistor were not sufficiently melted, only two strands had welded, and the wire leads broke right off. Because some silicone goop hides the spot welds, you'll have to remove it to inspect them. br>br>Before replacing the fan in the car, I discovered the spot welds and was able to retrofit the existing harness to this resistor by using ring terminals and drilling complementary holes. br>br>At this price, it's not a good deal compared to buying a brand new fan or an appropriately rated aluminum load resistor and mounting it to the car's frame.
The wiring connections are very weak, as other reviewers have pointed out. It is necessary to re-solder. Here are some installation instructions - ] . Also, if you, like me, have a two-plug fan (2002 and early 2003 Mini), some grinding is required to allow the on-off switch to work. to make the fan relay fit.
The fan completely stopped working a few weeks after it was installed, which was a good product. To begin with, I suggest replacing the fan. This relay can be found on a brand new fan assembly. The fan would have been a good maintenance part for my 2004 R53, which had an issue with overheating.
I would have used solder and heat-shrink tubing even if the kit had included the referenced wiring connectors. Instead, use shrink tubing. It fits perfectly and performs admirably in my 2006 Cooper S. Let's hope it lasts as long as the original part.
Great seller, great product.
