Questions & Answers

Is this part compatible with the 2010 450exc?

Yes, it is compatible with the 2010 450exc.

Is there one for a 2004 450 EXC that you have?

Sorry, but this item is not available on Amazon.

Is this the correct fan for a 2009 KTM XC-1000? f 250? I don't want to cut and splice wires, so will it plug into the bike's stock wiring harness? thanks! ?

It connects to the 450EXC's original wiring harness. If your bike has a stock wiring harness, you should be able to plug in the fan right away. For me, a fan is ideal.

Is this compatible with a 2017 KTM 300xc?

I haven't decided yet. I suggest getting in touch with Trail Tech directly. If you plan on running a larger tank, this is something to consider. There was no room for a fan in my IMS 3 gallon tank. My Acerbis 3 gal is one of them.

Okay, but for the price, it could be a lot better! Overall, it performed as expected, so why only three stars? Because this product could (and should) be better for the price

The Trail Tech temperature meter has a shortcoming. br>br> It stands on its own. It is powered by a built-in battery that cannot be replaced. It's most likely a lithium, so that won't happen anytime soon, but the internal battery will need to be replaced at some point. Because a replacement meter costs $89, it should either have a replaceable battery or shut off when the temperature drops below, say, 100F, but reactivate when the little button is pressed. br>br>Another flaw is the "adjustability," which works fine but only between 150 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit (as well as the equivalent temperatures in degrees Celsius). Setpoints for On and Off are identical. I'd prefer min and max set points that could be adjusted independently. Finally, there is no provision for mounting the meter to the handlebars, and the lead wire to the fin type temperature sensor, as well as the other wires from the fan to the meter, are not nearly long enough. This feature is available on Trail Tech's "TTO" series meters, and it should be available on this "TTV" meter as well. br>br>There are a few other aspects of the product that could be improved. 1. br>br> To be rated for a 3 AMP DC motor, the lead wire to the fan appears to be quite thin. The red lead wire from the 12V battery in the optional DC harness is large enough to handle the current, but not as large as the rest of the fan wiring. ALL power-related wiring must be capable of handling the fuse rating provided in this harness (7. 5A). 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br I took a reading of the fan motor's operating current. It can only draw up to 2. At a voltage of 13 volts, a current of 5 amps is available The DC power harness's fuse should be rated at a maximum of 5A. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. According to the Trail Tech website, the meter can also be used as a DC Volt Meter, but not the one that comes with THIS product, which would be a useful troubleshooting feature. A similar feature in the meter included with this kit would be ideal. 4. br>br> The meter does not appear to have a back-lit display, and even if it does, there is no way to turn it on, assuming there is an automatic back-light mode. The Trail Tech website claims that the TTV meter has this feature, which appears to be false. This is true, at least, for the meter that comes with the kit. br>This discrepancy could be due to the fact that the meter in this kit is an older version; This "universal" kit has the part number 732- in it. FN1, but there is another part number (732-) that is related to it. FN"A"1), which could be for kits with a newer version of the meter that includes backlighting and voltmeter functions.

Maintains the temperature of the bike! My bike is now usable again thanks to this fan! br>The 2008 KTM EXC-S is a sporty motorcycle with a powerful engine
5/5

The R 450 is a fantastic bike, but if you ride it around town frequently stopping and idling, it will eventually burp coolant all over the place. It simply can't take the idling any longer. br>I used this fan in conjunction with Engine Ice coolant and a CV4 radiator cap to keep my bike cool. br>br>Installation of the fan was a breeze. I needed to drain the coolant anyway, so accessing the radiator was not a problem. Putting the screws in was a little nerve-wracking because it bends a few of the radiator fins. br>This has no effect on the radiator's performance or the flow of air. br>The temperature sensor is crammed into a tight space. There's no way it's going to vibrate. br>br>Because there is only one button, it was very simple to program. I rode it around on a hot day to see how high the temperatures rose, then adjusted my fan threshold. br>The only drawback I've noticed is the placement of the digital display. To read the display on my tank, I have to pull back the plastic a little. br>This isn't a big deal, and it's most likely due to the way my bike's plastics are designed. br>br>If your enduro is overheating, this fan is the best solution.

It's the difference between life and death
5/5

What a stark contrast. On technical, tight trails, my XR650R got extremely hot. My bike heats up quickly unless you're driving fast enough to force air through the radiator. I used this in conjunction with Engine Ice coolant and noticed a significant improvement. The fan uses very little power from my stator, and I hardly notice it when it turns on. If you're installing this on a 650R, you'll need to remove the right-side radiator and get creative, as the instructions provide no guidance.

Since I installed this, my KTM xcf350 has not overheated
5/5

I used to overheat a lot because I used to ride narrow, slow trails with my 65-year-old son! No more. I was running engine ice before I got this, but I was still getting overheated. Tusk 2 (higher pressure cap) was also added. 1 It is equipped with a temperature gauge. I believe that the fan and engine noise in the Really work together to keep the bike cool. However, I believe the fan bears the brunt of the responsibility! It was very simple to set up. br>br>.

The kit is compatible with a KTM 530 exc

from 2009. Despite Amazon's claim that this part would not fit a 2009 KTM 530, I checked Trail Tech's website and ordered the part, which fits perfectly. It was a fairly simple installation because it was wired for a fan. On hot days when I'm riding slow technical trails, the fan works perfectly, and I'm no longer boiling the radiator.

It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it for my 2009 KTM 250 XCF
5/5

My 2009 KTM 250 XCF was able to plug into the existing KTM harness without any modifications. Quality product that turns on at the correct temperature and shuts off at a lower temperature. It's simple to use and program. When you're coming to a halt at the top of a long hill climb or in tight situations, this is a great tool to have.

Excellent quality
5/5

Instructions that are well written. It is simple to put together. The components appear to be of high quality. If your KTM doesn't have the plug pre-installed in the loom, this kit includes wiring. br>br>This Sunday, I rode 30 miles at Tahuya. There was a lot of stopping and starting, as well as hill climbing in first and second gear. The fan, which was set to 150 degrees, turned on and off without a hitch. There were no instances of overheating or boiling. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

5/5

On a 2009 KTM 450 EXC, this system was installed. It plugged right into my wiring harness after a simple bolt-on installation. Trail Tech has produced a high-quality product. br>br>One gripe is that reading the temperature sensor with my bike's plastics on is difficult (almost impossible), but this isn't a major issue. When the fan is turned off, I know I'm below 150 degrees.
