The fan was shrink-wrapped and well-protected when it arrived. When I went to open the package, I noticed that one of the cooling fins that connect the motors was wrapped inside, indicating that it had fallen off the assembly prior to wrapping. It appears to have been simply glued on, so I'll have to figure out how to reattach it before installing it. Thermal paste (which is used to cool computer seats) appears to be a viable option. Despite the fact that the paste is only $4, I now have to go out of my way to get some, apply it, and wait for it to dry before I can install it. There's nothing quite like having to double the job time due to a defective product.
