I was a little concerned at this price point. But I double-checked the reading on my mass air meter from the factory. When it arrived, I disconnected my battery, replaced it, and then reconnected it. After that, I cleared the code with my scan tool. The car is in perfect working order, and I saved over $400 over the dealer, which makes me very happy. People, make sure you check the correct number for your car, and no matter what anyone tells you, disconnect your battery before installing any electronics in your car. It's what I was taught when I first started working in the automotive industry more than 30 years ago, and I still believe it.
When the engine temperature was cold, I had engine code P0101 along with a rough and erratic idle (RPMs dropped from 1000 to 200 and stalled out frequently). After I installed this part, the check engine light went out on its own after a few hundred miles. However, the car continued to idle rough and erratically for another 3000 miles before shutting down and refusing to restart. The rough and erratic idle disappeared immediately after I replaced the MAF (mass airflow sensor) with a $120 Duralast part. I would recommend upgrading to a better brand because this item may get you through an emissions test temporarily but may not address the root cause of your problem.
After about 3 days, the product failed, and the car idle became uncontrollable, bouncing all over the place until I disconnected it. I reinstalled the old, slightly defective one until I could afford to upgrade to a better brand from Bremi, which cost about $100 more but has performed flawlessly thus far. When it comes to MAF units, you get exactly what you pay for.
The design of this item was fantastic. It appears to be identical to the OEM one I removed. Despite the fact that it was successful in eliminating my error code; It didn't fit as snugly as the original did, and there was a small gap. The product is 100% fully functional and works great but it might require a little hammering to get it on properly.
It's the perfect fit for my BMW 325I. As expected, it functions properly. After a reset and a drive cycle, I was able to pass my emissions. If you need a MAF for a BMW 325 series, this is a great option.
For the past three months, I've had this on my 2003 BMW 525. Not only did the check engine light turn off, but it also did not come back on. I removed the more expensive duralast maf, which failed to turn off the light.
It arrived quickly, in good condition, and was simple to set up.
