These are usually designed for use in vehicles (I have one on my John Deere). I'm confident that the harnesses will hold up, and that most relays will last the same amount of time.
They can be protected by the relays, yes.

My truck is equipped with an air compressor. A 40A fuse was included with the compressor. I had an external switch wired, but I didn't want it to handle all of the current, so I bought these relays, which were supposed to be rated for 40 amps. When I tested it on my compressor, however, the relay worked for a few seconds, then clicked off for a few seconds, then back on again, etc. , which indicates that the relay innards aren't rated to spec, as the compressor's 40A fuse never blew. As a result, the relay does not operate at the specified maximum current of 40 amps. I'm going to try a different brand and increase the amps to 60A just in case it's a temporary spike or something.
Took a 2002 Honda Odyssey and added a pusher radiator fan. Has proven to be dependable. Although the pusher fan is only a temporary solution until a faulty high-speed fan switch can be replaced, I am confident that the relay would last much longer if it were needed. This is the one I'd choose if I needed another relay.
Even on metered, calibrated electrical loads, the relays were defective and did not work properly. Consider some of the other, similarly priced relays available on Amazon if the reviews about the poor quality are true. This purchase was a complete waste of money. br>br>Update - Despite the fact that the return window had closed a month ago, I received a full (unsolicited) refund after posting this review and leaving feedback on the seller.
This relay was purchased to go with my Polaris Sportsman. So far, it has served its purpose. The only flaw I found is that when soldering the wires to their proper locations, the insulation is easily melted. The insulation has a plasticy feel to it.
The relay itself appears to be well-built and weatherproof. br>Inside the receptical, the female connections are terrible. I was able to remove the plug. Alternate, stronger females will not bend out of shape or fall off if they make positive contact.
I bought an Ulincos Auto Relay U1914 with 14AWG Wire Harness to keep my radio on after turning off the car until I open the door. This is where these come in handy. You won't have to add connectors to the relays if you use the supplied wire harness. Two relays and harnesses for a great price!.
Some of the other ratings are correct, and I agree with them. If you plan to pull more than 15 amps through the relay, 14 gauge wire will not be enough to handle the power rating. Fixing it isn't difficult.
This is how I wired an LED light bar for my ATV. On the inside of the box top are printed wiring instructions. The best way to wire any accessory on an atv or even a car, and don't forget to get a fuse holder link to go along with it. When the relay is energized, you will hear a click.
