Questions & Answers
Whether it will work with a stock alternator I am not sure. The alternator I installed was a tough stuff aftermarket one.
The alternator in question was made between 1969-1972 and is a 10si alternator
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO GET THE KIT THAT METES THE ALTERNATOR, SUCH AS A 10-PHASE CHECK THE OUTPUT VOLT METER OF THE ROTOR AND STATOR PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE KIT, IN CASE THE ROTOR OR STATOR IS UNWORKING. This way, you don't waste a good kit on a blown alternator. Wishing you the best of luck
I would buy a GM1 as long as it is not a second hand unit An alternator based on wires
Selected User Reviews For Tuff Stuff 7700B Rebuild Kit (For GM 1-Wire Alternators)
Have used it for several hundred miles. My own alternators have been done for over 40 years and I found this kit to be as good as any other. When I take my alternator apart, I always buy the entire kit because I can never tell how little bearings are in the alternator until I take it.
Despite fitting perfectly, the alternator did not charge at first. The #1 terminal had to be excitable in order to begin charging.
I have it on my 55 Chevy and it works great.
The kit is nice and complete. Quality parts will never let you down.
