What type of starter will fit this? A direct drive starter or a gear reduction starter?

The OEM 23502557 bracket fits the 6 inch model. I'm not sure if I'll be able to order a diesel starter online for the first time. The bracket can also be ordered here, as well as hardware. ?

This is to be used on a 1983 Chevrolet K10 with a 6 cylinder engine. Is it possible to use a stock starter on a 2 diesel?

An electric start equipped with a gear reduction fits into this. If you have an 1983 car, you should have a direct drive starter, so that bracket would be all you need. The starter can be re-set to reduce the gear ratio if it has been changed.

It has been added to my 1986 CUCV M1059. An absolute pain to put in, but worth the effort. This is the person I bought it from and he didn't have a photo The starter bolt had to be replaced, which was a bit irritating as the bit had to be removed and tapped back into place. After that I had to add Definitely a must have if you have an old Detroit diesel engine with a gear reduction starter.

Exactly what I was looking for! your GM Diesel GM starts failing every year, you will go through starters often and this bracket will get thrown away

The program is exactly what we need! This is such an important part to have on your truck. I've seen too many cast iron engine blocks destroyed by the torque of starters that weren't equipped with this bracket.

I replaced the old 6 cylinder head in my 96 C2500

My 1996 C2500 6 was fitted with this. I ordered the part in size 5L and it was the perfect fit. This bracket was not present on the truck when I purchased it. Every time I start the engine, I won't be gambling on whether the starter will break since its mount is attached to my engine block.

The item displayed is not what it appears to be. Unlike the picture, which shows an original GM part, this one is a knockoff Currently offline. I still fitted my 86' M1009 K5 Blazer with it, as metal is metal. I wish you the best of luck in To use the K5 Blazer you will need approximately three feet of extensions, as well as a swivel head.

Attach your engine block to the other end of the bracket. Although you will have to maneuver your way through it, you can accomplish it eventually. A final 4) gradually tighten everything up.

My 6 has an aftermarket starter and so I got this to support it. Engine consists of a 5L diesel engine, which works great and has reassured me that I do not have to worry about the torque from the starter damaging anything.

I'm happy with how things are going so far

This is a 1 star as far as I'm concerned. Item arrived on time, and it is exactly what I expected. I have it installed on my phone. There are two starter bolts left, so I don't need to shear them anymore. I'm happy with how things are going so far. I docked 1 star because I thought it was a little expensive for a piece of angle iron with 2 holes in it, but I was in no mood to make one.
