The top broke off during installation of the cheap plastic lid. The connector may have been hard to install because the connector is brittle, so that's why it broke. I don't know why it broke. The design of this cable appears to be as good as the OEM cable (which came apart when unplugging it). The device has been in the vehicle for more than a month and is working flawlessly. There are no codes (no symbols).
