My 2015 Ford Escape's air conditioning has been running at a very low setting (I live in Florida), and I've noticed that my outside temperature has been fluctuating between 66 and 72 degrees on days when the temperature outside has been in the mid-80s. To get my AC to cool, I had to set it to MAX Cool or set the temperature to 65 degrees. I took the sensor out and sprayed it with carb cleaner and other such things, and it seemed to work fine for a day. br>br>I bought this sensor to make sure there wasn't a bigger problem with the computer or the air conditioning or something. This sensor was inexpensive enough for me to try it out, and I'm glad I did. WHAM! I unplugged the old sensor and replaced it with this new one. When I started the car, the outside temperature was 83 degrees, exactly as it had been on my phone's weather app. The air conditioner was as good as new. Now that I've been driving back and forth to work, it appears that my air conditioner has resurrected and is working as well as it did when the car was new. If you're having problems with your air conditioning, try this sensor. br>br>If you're having problems with your air conditioning, try this sensor. You will not be sorry.
The temperature sensor appears to be in good working order. It must be pushed all the way in until a clicking noise is heard, and it must be driven for a few minutes before it begins to read. It wasn't too expensive either. I was purchasing it on behalf of a third party. 'It's quite small,' says the narrator. Making it was most likely only 75 cents.
On Rock Auto, you can get a better deal, but there's that pesky shipping cost, which cancels out the savings unless you're ordering a large quantity. Anyway, I wired it up with a new mirror harness I bought on Amazon that didn't have this, and it works great.
It's preferable to paying $75 at the dealership.
