My Acura is no longer "jerky," and the P2138 and VSA83/65 diagnostic codes have gone away, according to my wife. I took advantage of the opportunity to tighten the throttle cable and remove any slack. Because the pedal travel stops before it reaches the firewall carpeting, this could put more strain on the throttle cable. br>I also used a method I found on Acurazine. com to remove all of the old AcuraLink diagnostic messages from the navigation system display (hold down the "GUIDE," "MENU," and "CANCEL" buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds, then delete the messages individually using the XM module screen). Finally, I purchased an INNOVA 3160RS Pro OBD2 Scanner/Car Code Reader, which I used to clear all old DTCs and monitor the performance of all systems - It is strongly suggested.
I was having a lot of problems with "limp mode," in which the accelerator would either stop responding or respond erratically, and the VSA and /_! The _lights would begin to turn on. The P2138 error code would also appear, indicating that the throttle position sensor was malfunctioning. The TL 3rd generation (2004-2009) is the third generation of the TL. This is the APP sensor (as of 2008). The dealer wanted to diagnose the problem (for a fee, I'm sure), quoted me twice as much as you get here, and I'm sure would overcharge me for labor. I replaced it myself (easy to do; search for DIY APP sensor on Acurazine for instructions, as well as a good Youtube video), and it solved my problems while also slightly improving throttle response and fuel economy. br>br>This is a genuine Acura part. It arrived sooner than expected because it shipped quickly and was well packaged. If you've been experiencing the same problems with a P2138 error code, I strongly advise you to purchase this part and replace it yourself.
The faulty part removed from my Acura had the same supplier markings on it. As a result, I believe this is a genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part, as throttle hesitations and surges were eliminated after installation. The sensation of driving has been restored to its original state. I removed the old part and disassembled it. I was dissatisfied to discover that there was little inside - A resistive surface is scraped with a couple of scrapers in a circular pattern. It's no surprise that it failed after 140k miles. Dealers charge more for OEM parts than Amazon, so it's still a good deal from Amazon for the assurance of OEM quality, even if it's overpriced for what you get.
It was fairly simple to put together, and the part worked flawlessly. If you're having trouble shifting or controlling the throttle, this should solve most of your problems. After installing it and resetting my ECU, my car now accelerates smoothly and doesn't feel like the engine is choking and jerking when I let off the gas.
My 2006 Acura TL had a code as well as warning lights, all of which pointed to a faulty accelerator sensor. This is, according to my understanding, a well-designed part. It is a well-known wear item that typically dies between the ages of 70 and 80. My car was in the 80k mile range, but it lasted much longer. br>br>It's a simple install, though I had to force the part past a support arm on my car; the most time-consuming part was removing two recessed bolts on the bottom of the mounting flange; It took me 25 minutes to complete the process. It's all plug and play and simple, with only one electrical connection to make and a cable to remove that snaps right back on the new part. br>br>After installation, I cleared the code and drove around for a while, and everything was fine.
My part came from the Acura of Tempe dealer's parts department, which I purchased through Acura Parts Source. I'm guessing that Amazon's fulfillment is also the original equipment manufacturer's part. This is a Heihin part that is identical to the one I removed from my car. br>br>Acura's 12-month/12,000-mile warranty applies because it's a factory part. br>br>Once installed, my problems with sluggish, uneven acceleration vanished. My vehicle is no longer sluggish in first or second gear. It also fixed the problem I was having with the tires spinning and the VSA button flashing when I floored it from a stop. Despite the fact that the car didn't give me any error codes, I'm glad I replaced this part.
I bought it from Acura Parts Source, who had it shipped directly from a Tempe, Arizona dealer. The Acura part warranty is included with the purchase. br>br>The part was shipped in OEM packaging with the Honda (Acura is a division of Honda Motor Co. ) sticker on it. 37971- is a part number that has been assigned to it by the manufacturer. RBB003. br>br>I had a problem with my car's acceleration, which was followed by a VSA and emissions system error. The car would switch to a safe mode, which would limit my acceleration. Safe mode and the VSA warning would be reset if you restarted the car. Emissions system errors usually go away after a few hours, so I replaced this part and it fixed my problem. br>br>Very simple to set up. It only took about 20 minutes and required the removal of a few bolts and a wire.
Quick shipping. Japan was the source of this item. Acura of Tempe sold it to me. I received this in the mail in two days, which is excellent service. Honda and Acura are two of my favorite brands of automobiles. Their vehicle is incredibly simple to keep up with. I don't have to disassemble the vehicle to replace a minor component. The sensor is located directly in front of the passenger-side wiper. It will take less than 30 minutes to replace the item. There are a total of ten bolts to remove. two for the front cover The bracket is worth two points. The damper gets three points. The sensor requires two. 1 for the cable lock nut, and 1 for the nut that secures the cable.
