My 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ was a perfect fit, and I put it in and replaced it without any difficulties after viewing a YouTube tutorial. This item should only be purchased if you verify your The '66) on the Impala and make sure it is good condition and that it has You could probably just need to change the fuse if your trunk won't open or lock. However, if the fuse is okay, then you can proceed to purchasing this part. Before I purchased mine, I called the dealer and was asked exactly how much it cost. Obviously, it was about $100. There is a fee of $150. The time and money you will save will be well worth it. Within 15 minutes, I had it done A new piece should be installed in 20 minutes after the old one has been removed. My recommendation is to do so.
I installed the new latch and upon inspection discovered that the mechanism that opens the trunk when you push the button does not operate. Until I reached the backseat to crawl into the trunk and opened it with the emergency latch, the trunk was permanently locked. It looks the same as the OEM part, but does not function. It makes a weak sound when you press it, but it does not open the latch that allows your trunk to open when you press "Open" on your key fob or on the trunk button. The other choices are much better. Look elsewhere, the alternatives are abundant.
In order to remove the trunk lid liner, one must first remove the liner. As luck would have it, I had some tools on hand and was able to remove them It was a simple matter of off and on once I got to the latch. All is well with it. It's nice to be able to open the trunk with a push of a button again.
This was the best deal I could find. I was so excited to receive this part. It was 150 that the store and dealership wanted. I took a chance after seeing this on YouTube. I paid an extra +++ for this part. I was very pleased with the results. On my 15 Chevy Malibu, the trunk now opens and closes. I took me 25 – 30 minutes to complete This installation takes thirty minutes when the factory latch is removed. Thanks a lot.
I lost my trunk latch and ended up eating all the fuses pretty quickly, so this was installed in its place. It's easy to install but now my trunk clicks a lot before it closes. It works again after that. Not sure what that is about. LOL, this is all I can think of.
I have had it installed for over 3 months, and it is still working perfectly. For 180$, it is comparable to the dealer's price. I really like this product.
It sometimes doesn't spring right open, so you may need to lift it, but that could be my fault.
