The ordering process was simple, shipping was quick, and the packaging and product itself appear to be of high quality; this appears to be a first-class product!br>br>Installation into my 2014 Mercedes E550 Coupe (C207) was simple. despite the fact that my console and head unit are not the same as the ones shown in the instructions br>br>Once installed, the decoder unit performed far better than I had anticipated - It's as if CarPlay was built into my car from the beginning! I also appreciate that both systems (Comand and CarPlay) are active at the same time, making switching between them a breeze. br>br>I'd like to offer some constructive criticism that may help you improve your product, primarily regarding Siri Voice Control. Siri can be called in a variety of ways by the product: br>br>"Hey Siri"br>Short press on the steering wheel Voice Command buttonbr>Long press on the Command Control Wheel buttonbr>br>br>I believe all of these options are intended. Because both systems are operational, the short press option invokes both the Comand Voice Control and Siri at the same time, which can be confusing for both the systems and myself. br>br>I've also discovered a few other items that unintentionally invoke Siri. The following are examples of these: br>br>Raise (or lower) the back of the driver's seat. When adjusting the passenger seat, however, this does not happen. I've tried everything else and haven't come across any other Siri invocations that I find objectionable. Is it possible to change the firmware so that the driver's seat adjustments don't trigger Siri? More information: br>br> Long presses on the CLR and BACK buttons on the center console will switch between Comand and CarPlay. This appears to be redundant, but it was perhaps unavoidable? br>br>In the meantime, although the right (hollow) star () button retains its original function (screen off/on) for both systems (excellent! ), the left (hollow) star () button does not. The CarPlay system does not appear to use the left (solid) star (). The brings up the Comand system menu, where an analog clock is displayed. Perhaps instead of using the Voice Command button on the steering wheel, this could be used to summon Siri? Couldn't the steering wheel Voice Command button be used solely to activate Mercedes Comand system voice commands? It's possible that there are programmatic reasons why this isn't possible, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to inquire. In order to use the Original Reverse camera, the unit must be switched from CarPlay to Comand. This is something I only have to do when I'm about to park and get out of the car. As a result, this is a minor annoyance that is by no means insurmountable. breaker, but it would be fantastic if the OEM camera signal(s) could be passed through to the CarPlay system. br>br>Overall, I am very pleased with this decoder and have already recommended it to a number of friends. The Equalizer feature, which brings out the best in the car's Harmon Kardon sound system, is one of my favorites. It's the best I've ever sounded! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> br>Thanks to the seller's excellent and prompt assistance, I was able to configure the system to allow the OEM Reverse Camera signals to pass through while connected to CarPlay. We're still working together to figure out what's causing the seatback adjustments to activate Siri. So far, it appears that we've identified this as an intermittent issue, which isn't occurring right now. br>br>Seriously, there are far too many big-name companies that could learn a thing or two from Road Top when it comes to customer service. If you own a Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or Audi without CarPlay and want a high-quality product that works well, is well-supported by the seller, and will not be abandoned once you've paid, this is the place to go. There is no need to look any further!.
It took exactly 4 hours, though it could have taken less time if we hadn't been so impressed with how well the Mercedes E350 was put together. br>br>With the help of the instruction manual, setting up the device was a breeze. We took photos of the before and after installations to ensure that everything was installed properly. One shot- I was ecstatic when I got my first kill. br>br>Whatever you do, take your time and go slowly with the interior removal; it's difficult but worthwhile.
The most difficult part was removing the optic fiber video cable from the original radio harness to this device harness, which you must do with extreme caution. After that, you must find the correct flip switch combination; if you do not, the car will not be able to display video from CarPlay. br>br>I didn't use the aux cable; instead, I streamed music from my iPhone via Bluetooth. If you're using Tidal, Apple Music, or any other CarPlay-compatible audio app, you'll be able to control the music from CarPlay, even if it's playing through MB Bluetooth. br>br>It performs as expected, and the best part is that your factory NTG system remains intact and operational.
When you hold down the C key on your 2015 E350, it does not switch screens. My 2015 Mercedes E350 was disassembled, and the harnesses and box were installed. When I start the car, all I get are the functions of my stock radio. When I press and hold the C button, the screen does not change to anything; it stays on the Mercedes factory radio, which is fine; I can hear the box click; and the control knob on the factory screen stops working until I press and hold the C button again. I'm not sure if I received a faulty shipment or not. Both the 7" and the 5" have been tried. Nothing changes when I change the settings on the 8" toggle switch in the manual. The screen goes blank if I turn off all of the toggle switches. I looked for a way to contact support but was unsuccessful. I'm hoping they'll notice this so I can reassemble my car before tomorrow morning.
I'm having problems with my device;br>br>- When I don't have the device installed, phone calls sound a lot worse. br>- When I walk near my garage, the device remains powered on for hours after my car has been turned off, causing my phone to connect to it.
- More than once every three minutes or so, the music fades in and out.
