There is also a capacitor and a connector. I am removing the same thing you are removing.
The 12 volt system is suitable for this.
This is not something I am familiar with. It works great and does not require points or condenser in my 1948 dodge custom with a 6 cylinder engine. Easy to install and no more points on the engine.

I found the installation process to be easy. As a result of being tired of dealing with the points on my 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe, I purchased this. A great combination of the Pertronix 2563LS solid state ignition and the 40501 flame thrower resulted in an excellent ignition. Installing both of them took less than 30 minutes (from start to finish), and the timing was pretty stable. I have a vacuum advance in my car as a matter of fact. As a result, I had to identify (from the online catalog) which one was for my distributor.
In the end, I sent it back to the manufacturer. He was unable to get the thing to work, despite his discussions with the technical department. (The product should have come with a "firing ring. " They told me Please take note I had dozens of these installed by my mechanic. I was disappointed without a choice but to go back to conventional points and condensers.
I have a 49 Plymouth with a working rear end.
