Considering that I replaced mine with a 1997 5, I'm not sure it is in the same category. There is a 7 vortec engine on it, and I found it to be a perfect fit
It was used to replace the one in my 96 Chevy Astro. They have the same V6 engine, I believe.
It's a good deal easier to get help from Amazon's customer service than from any other provider. Don't be afraid to try them.

The distributor rotor for my 2001 S10 Blazer arrived today. Initial lasted 19 years, still worked but terminal was pretty crusted over. My replacement fits perfectly and works just fine. I hope it works for another 20 years.
This product has no problems that were the fault of the manufacturer. The GM engine compartment has design problems that hamper installation, but that is not the fault of the manufacturer. You will need a #20 Torx (Star) Driver to remove It has been reported that some of the replacements are equipped with regular Phillips.
