In my opinion, these connectors are water-resistant, not waterproof. Moreover, the wire gauge is 16AWG at most, which is in no way sufficient for attaching an 8 gauge load to them. (There is a 40 amp limit on 8 AWG).
It is okay to use heat shrink make/female bullet connectors as long as you don't take the speakers out all the time.
As for the waterproofing, I'm not sure what the question is, but if asking about the waterproof connection I would say it can't take pressure washing or being submerged in water it's water resistant only
In any case, I just stripped each end with my wire stripper that has gauges for each size. The 18 gauge stripped the covering without cutting the wire, and the 20 gauge removed it without cutting the wire. Each test was done several times, since I cut a few strands with 22 gauge markings. It was very difficult to fit the 18 gauge wire in the 18 gauge hole and the 20 gauge hole after the wires were stripped It was a perfect fit for hole number 22. They're being used as a connection between my motorcycle's aftermarket handlebar headlight high beam/low beam switch and the heavy duty relays that carry the light current in 14 gauge wire. Rather than carrying heavy current to the end components, I plan to use them more for other connection types. Thank you for your help.

They are great. One thing that would have made it better is if they came with grease to ensure that With sealed butt splices, they were easy to install. Standard butt splices will not be waterproof, so I will not recommend installing them with them. The sealed butt splices would help ensure they are installed correctly if they come with them.

When pushing the two halves of the connector together, one thing to watch out for is that on one side the wires tend to back out of the plastic housing slightly.
