It's highly unlikely that a genuine GM part will fit, but I'm not sure for sure. What are the dimensions of the square hole need to insert the spring, and the corresponding notch on the fuel door needed to indent the spring when it closes on the 321i?

I put it off over and over again. As soon as I found the piece on Amazon, and read all of the reviews about how simple to install it was, I ordered it immediately. After opening the package, I had popped the device into place in minutes. With my card, I will no longer be able to open the gas tank lid! I think you should take that dealership! I simply removed the old broken spring with a flat head and then inserted the new one. Door of fuel tank opens and closes according to the amount of fuel in the tank. I am sure it is easy to install! I don't think it took longer than 5 minutes The time taken is 10 minutes.

It needed to be repaired / replaced after the fuel door latch of my 2009 Chevy Traverse was damaged. After purchasing the item from Amazon, I was able to change it out in about 15 minutes once I received it. My only complaint is that there are no detailed instructions on how to do it, so it took me a long time to figure things.
Some reviews indicated it was not a genuine GM part, but mine came with a Genuine GM package, and was installed quickly and identical to the original. Won't hesitate to buy from GMC again in the future.
I used this method for my 2009 Escalade and it worked perfectly. The part is not made by GM, however. It is aftermarket and made by a third party.
