Two mufflers arrived in well-protected boxes. Both mufflers were installed on a 1972 K10 with an EFI 350 build that we are finishing with dual exhaust and no cats, and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the muffler for the price! The new pipes looked cheap in a good way thanks to the brushed stainless look of the mufflers. When the engine was started, I was blown away by the low, deep rumble of the exhaust with each lope of the cam. However, one stab of the throttle made me cry because I knew I'd have to remove and replace these in the trash can. Our customer, as expected, turned them down. The mufflers rapped like cherry bombs on an old school LaBomba rig when you accelerated, which was a truly revolting sound! On acceleration, the fluttering rap of these could only be described as two gorillas smashing metal trash cans together, amplified with a 10,000 watt megaphone, ear bleeping. I don't want to come across as overly sensitive, but they sound terrible when accelerating quickly! They'd probably mellow out if Cats were installed in the exhaust. If your car has dual exhaust but no cats, you're better off with dog food cans.
OK. I bought two of these Flowmaster mufflers and now I'm wishing I hadn't. These are by far the worst "mufflers" (for lack of a better term) I've ever encountered. On idle and acceleration, the old rusted-out mufflers actually sounded quieter and better. Apart from that, I can't tell the difference between them and the ones that were missing their entire bottoms. br>br>I'm not sure; they might work well on a four-cylinder Honda, but they're useless on a high-performance V8. To be able to crimp and tighten them onto my 2, I had to cut a slot in the necks. 5" pipes. They were oversized for some reason, and yes, I used calipers to check them. br>br>I'm going to order some different mufflers and try them out on my lawnmower to see how they sound.
Continue your search, bub. This is a genuine stainless muffler for hardworking people who want a quiet ride for the price of two cases of beer. No, it didn't make my gasser roll coal, but it sounded stock and was made of real steel with solid welds.
I found exactly what I was looking for. It has a nice rumble and a classic sound without being too expensive. I didn't want a system like the SLP Loudmouth or the Flowmaster Super 10s because they were too loud. I liked the MagnaFlow system, but these are similar in design and cost less, and should be installed by a skilled home mechanic or in a shop.
I'm going to put my Tacoma on, it sounds fantastic! It's important not to be too loud, and it's also important not to give up too easily. It's just right.
It was a good product, but it was a little too quiet for my needs. It's not too dissimilar to my stock on my 5.
It's difficult to find a stainless muffler for this price that flows well and doesn't sound obnoxious. Fabrication and additional materials will be required for installation. It's not a perfect match.
Great product, only needed a few adjustments and it was ready to go, heavy duty muffler with a great sound.
