My grade is a 6. 5 also. This is the muffler I ordered, and it's fantastic. It's extremely quiet and much less expensive than the one recommended by the parts catalog. Because the inlet is larger than the original muffler, you'll need to use a smaller pipe.
This is what I put in my RV. From the front to the back, it was hooked up to my RV. To get it to exhaust out the side, I added a 90° pipe with a chrome tip.

An adapter from 1 1/2 to 1 3/8 is needed. It's a lot quieter than the old, rusted muffler. The muffler body is a little longer. The total length is almost identical. Because the muffler's inlet is 1 1/2 inch, I had to go to a local muffler shop and get a reducing adapter. Metal that is very thin. The moisture drain plug could not be removed. I'm afraid I'll damage the muffler because I'm in such a tight spot. I saved money because it's only about $100 cheaper than the Generac muffler on Amazon. Because the galvanized finish on this muffler appears to be thin, I painted it with Utra High temp paint for gas grills.
This is also applicable to a generator. I was unable to locate the generac model muffler and instead came across this one. The difference in length is about an inch, but it was fine with the right dimensions to bolt right up.
While not as quiet as a Honda generator, it did a great job of quieting down my 2500 Onan RV generator. Now I don't have to be embarrassed when I crank it up for the occasional needs, and I can hear myself while inside the RV.
This was purchased to replace the rusted-out one I had previously purchased. The muffler on my Emerald Plus 6500 generator in my motorhome is worn out. It seemed to be a natural fit. If you know how to weld, it's a fairly simple process. Otherwise, you should buy the adapter because they will almost certainly be rusted together.

metal that is very thin As this is the third one I've installed, I'd recommend using HIGH TEMP exhaust wrap to burn out any water as quickly as possible while in use. A larger "carbon plug" has been added to the bottom of the square, which should make it more difficult to twist off.
