In a nutshell There are a lot of good features in this turbo! My purchase has built boost very strong. I am extremely happy with it. I have been a mechanic for a few years now and this turbo is definitely a high quality unit compared to others I have seen. The boost starts at 3500 rpm on my D16 Civic, and when VTEC is engaged, it pulls extremely hard. I am in the process of building another D16 turbo civic for a customer, and this turbo will also be used on his car. We have new photos of our engine rebuild and dyno - the d 16A and d16a maxspeeding rods and d16a maxspeeding connecting rods, with 19 psi vitara pistons.
You can view the update here. The first run of the turbo failed. It has been a long time since the seals were put on. It would make sense if you spend a bit more money and do a xs or CX race. I am updating version 10 of my website. In the spirit of full disclosure, after speaking with maxspeeding and sending them a video and a couple of pictures to confirm and also help them diagnose the issue, they offered to send a replacement cartridge as a solution. As of now, I have not received the replacement, but I'm waiting for it. As a result, they took note of the issues and will pass along the feedback to their factories. I found it to be a very straightforward and easy process dealing with them. I give the customer service a thumbs up. As a result, I upgraded my rating to a 3 star since the customer service was excellent, but I have yet to receive the replacement, so I will be sure to update it when it arrives.
The car proved to be quite reliable, as well as providing tons of power and above all more usable torque. We just returned from a 2,000 mile round trip from Pennsylvania to the Gulf coast of Florida in it with no issues. It took it like a champ when I turned the boost up as high as 20 psi at one point during initial tuning. Remember I went through every precaution while assembling and installing the kit, such as priming the oil lines with oil and plumbed the oil and coolant lines The only issue I had was that the included wastegate actuator did not start to open until 12psi and was not able to control boost below 20psi, so I had to purchase an external gate because I will not use that much power Aside from that, my overall impression of value for money is excellent. Compared to other deals, I found this one to be the best deal.
Upon installation, heard the turbine hitting the housing and creating a slight grinding noise. Because it was so cheap, I felt like it would be ok if it cleared by itself. A few weeks later, it made it about 1,500 hard miles before it completely damaged itself. I liked how it spooled and the sound was great. It has some power if you're trying to make a boost on a budget. A sub $150 turbo isn't the worst money a person can spend as long as it isn't put on a daily driver! If you are honest about what you are expecting it isn't the worst price to pay. I was not nice to that thing, to tell the truth.
Here's an update! The pump has been running on my daily at 16 PSI for 3 months and still kicks no problems whatsoever. It makes good numbers and spools hard. I had a great deal of satisfaction with this company when it came to quality turbos for a great price. Customer service was also fantastic, responding quickly to my email inquiries in regards to a missing gasket, as well as looking after it immediately. Thanks a lot, I highly recommend.
In a nutshell It costs under $200, and I found it online and decided it was a close enough replacement, so here it is on a 125cc 4speed Baja pit bike I built maybe 3 years ago.
There is an exhaust side of 2 on the diagram. When it is actually 3 inches, it is considered to be 5 inches. As a result, I needed to exchange the exhaust adaptor I received for one from a different manufacturer. There will be a 5 inch display when there will be a 3 inch display.
