Would it be worth it to buy the ?

Having installed this kit on a 2009 Civic 8th Gen with R18A1, I'm very satisfied. There is one ACDelco tensioner included in this kit. A manual for a 9th Generation Civic with a R18Z1 states that the ACDelco tensioner 39385 is used.

Hello, do I need to loosen my tensioner with my new one? A friend just received theirs and it seems to be a bit sloppy. Honestly, I am not sure how anything like this will tension. ?

The hydraulic actuator (strut) is responsible for tensioning the belt There is a rubber boot on this part. Those pieces will appear to flop around at the bolt that connects them to the arm or body that includes the pulley when not installed. As long as a belt is installed, the tensioner will pivot around the bolt hole in the middle when bolted into the vehicle. When a force is applied to the pulley (up or down), it is transferred around the pivot point and applied to the hydraulic actuator in the opposite direction. In an attempt to pull the actuator down, the belt tries to push the pulley up. There is a downward pull on the belt which is resisted by the hydraulics.
