3 of which received an O- The pickup tube of the OE pump has a ring failure. Before you replace the pump and the O-ring, make sure you have all of the necessary parts. (no pickup o-) ring (no pickup o-) ring (no The most common cause of low oil pressure in the LS is rings. ) On cold start up, I was getting a Low Oil Pressure warning. When I start it up, I have 50 psi, and when it gets hot, it stays at 40 psi. I figured I'd upgrade and replace the Oil Pump while I was at it. ring job, and I'm pleased with the Melling pump's ability to restore oil pressure. An unintended consequence of restoring/increasing Oil Pressure in my 5. 3 with this pump caused oil to be pushed through the PCV and into the intake manifold; this was a simple fix with a Moroso Oil Separator; however, be aware that if you have an older LS without the updated PCV system (mine was updated but still required the separator after installing this pump), you may experience the same issue. If you smell burning oil, you'll need to get an oil separator installed right away, or your catalytic converters will degrade and you'll get P0420, P0430, or both. br>br>As another reviewer pointed out, changing the relief spring required removing the internal hex plug. Instead of removing the plug, I left the pressure spring that came with the pump in place.
I use this pump on every Silverado/Sierra I work on that even remotely necessitates the removal of the pump/timing cover. The maximum psi spring is always used by me. One 6. 0 I put one in with 270k miles on it and it holds 65 psi all day long while driving down the highway. One of the five I have is On the highway, a 3s with 255k miles that hasn't been well maintained maintains about 53 psi. My five children who have been beaten and abused on several occasions While driving down the highway, 3 maintains a pressure of 45 psi. That's all I've done so far, and I'll continue to use this pump whenever I need it. Also, I've never removed the oil pan; the pickup bolt can be a pain at times, but it's not a major issue.
I am not a fan of third-party sellers. This pump appeared to be very different from what I had seen on the Melling YouTube channel, and it was also missing parts. If you purchase these, make sure to inspect them as soon as you receive them. I returned mine because I wasn't satisfied with the way it was packaged. If you don't have oil pressure, this can kill your engine, so make sure it's in good shape.
9L engine, I installed this oil pump. 3 l. I made use of the pre-installed Spring. His blood pressure increased by about 5 psi per square inch. It's a melling pump in the truest sense of the word. Made in the United States of America. He's got a Texas speed camshaft in his engine. DELETE FROM DOD If you're sticking with a VVT or DOD system, I'd recommend using a higher-pressure, higher-volume pump. Otherwise, you're squandering your resources. Imo.
3 motor. Due to the fact that the original pump had 230K miles on it, we decided to replace it with this one. In my opinion, the pump cools down to 40 psi and then drops too low. Highway cruising pressure is 30 psi, and idle pressure is just over 20 psi. The high mileage original high volume pump gave me better results. Perhaps I was given the wrong one. If I had used this to repair a customer's vehicle, I would have had to pay for the entire replacement.
My 2011 GMC Sierra 5 now has it installed. When performing a DOD delete, use 3L. Gives approximately 5- Additional PSI of ten. It's quite effective. Engine appears to be in good spirits.
I read the reviews where people tried to change the pump spring and ended up stripping the plug out. I used the correct Allan socket, and with a little extra effort, I was able to remove the pump spring cap. So don't be put off by the negative reviews.
I received a five-star rating. My 82 K10 had low oil pressure, so I bought three from a junkyard for $200. It only took a few hours to set up, and it now has 50-plus users. At idle, the pressure is 60 pounds per square inch. I give it five stars.
