Not shooting parts at my Cayman, but measuring in water with a digital meter at the oil fill cap, I'm guessing I got a bad unit. My old unit was definitely bad; the new one is reading between 5 and 8 inches of water after switching to a branded oem unit that is reading a consistent 5. I was cheap and paid for it. 5 in water column, yes 40 bucks more, not worth changing the aos out again, let alone cleaning up the oil mess it made throughout the entire intake system, including the maf sensor, plugs, and so on. Who knows, maybe Porsche failure rates from the box are just as high; I'm just glad I can do the measurements and work myself. This is a simple diagnosis; if your shop is guessing, it's time to find a new one. I'll state that you can't have other problems because changing a bad aos won't fix bore scoring or vacuum leaks, for example. Although I would go with a Porsche unit as I did, it caused many other issues that took me about a half day to repair. I believe I just got a bad unit and that happens; amazon and the vendor are returning the part so they are making things right; however, I would not go with a Porsche unit as I did, as it caused many other issues that took me about a half day to repair.
Only one star is appropriate for the actual product. The AOS has a poor track record of success. Despite the fact that my first attempt was successful. I installed this as a preventative measure, preferring to replace it every 20k miles rather than ripping everything apart and cleaning up the mess if it fails. It isn't a question of if the MAF, throttle body, plenum, and spark plugs will fail. but when. br>br>The shipper gets 5 stars for being extremely fast and for the fact that this is an OEM part without the "Porsche tax"! br>br>Best of luck to you.
At 75,000 miles on my wife's 2007 Cayman S, I replaced the oil separator with this unit. Now at around 90,000 miles, it's still going strong.

This unit only lasted 10,000 miles and barely made it through the two-year warranty period. I had positive crankcase pressure, which caused a cam cover plug to blow out and spill oil all over the place. A Porsche OEM OAS has been installed in its place. In this case, saving $40 was not worth it.
So far, the piece has performed as expected, with no issues, and we anticipate that it will last for a long time.
It only lasted 2 miles before it began whistling incessantly, so I had to replace it with the OEM one. It was a complete waste of both time and money.
