Remove the back cover, drill a hole in the existing plastic stock barbell, screw in a 1/4-20 bolt, and pull out from the back. Remove the oil pump to expose the oil galley hole in the front lower right of the engine (when looking from the front) and use a long rod to poke the barbell out through the rear oil galley hole if you have the front cover off. Lubricate the o-rings before installing them. smear vaseline on the ring and insert the new barbell into the o- Start with the ring end and work your way to the center until it sits flush and pops in.

So, in terms of quality, I give it a ten out of five. It's an outstanding work of art. I'll give you a heads up: don't rush the installation of this, and doing so with the engine in the vehicle is a pain. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT IF YOU CAN PULL THE MOTOR. Otherwise, battling the firewall while doing what needs to be done will be a PITA. br>br>It is machined to an extremely tight tolerance, which is fantastic, but be careful when installing it. If something isn't working, don't force it (she says). nm), feel inside the hole to see if there are any burrs. GM produced a fantastic engine, but some issues slipped through the cracks. You might be able to get away with the stock plastic, but given how tight the TOL is, feel for any burrs, spurs, or spikes and remove them. whatever it is that comes out of the abyss It'll be fine if you catch shavings with a well-casolined bit that you hold in your hand. Spin, feel, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment, experiment Repeat until the process is complete, but this time take your time!! br>br>Otherwise, it's a beauty that won't be seen, but it gives you peace of mind.
Parts drilled a small hole in the center of the OEM barbell, screwed a screw into the hole, and then yanked it out with the screw that was inserted into the drilled hole.
It's amazing how much better the fit is after removing the factory piece, as the factory piece can move around a lot, allowing oil to bypass the filter. This piece fits snugly inside the bore and has very little movement. I would strongly suggest it.
The fit and finish were excellent, and installation was simple because the engine was removed from the vehicle. To remove the old plastic barbell, a screw drilled/screwed into it was used. With a little oil on the new barbell's o ring, it fit perfectly.
I would buy this item again because of the excellent construction and the fact that it fits perfectly. It arrived quickly, and I had no problems with it. It's a nice upgrade over the stock construction valve.
In comparison to the stock plastic piece, this is a huge improvement.
It's perfect for me, and I'm very pleased with it.
