My 5. The 3 LS has 240K miles on it. On every surface, there is an accumulation of oil. This includes the oil gallery, which is where the barbell is displayed. The OEM plastic barbell can be removed with a screw. Then, using it as a plunger, clean out the gallery with Brake Clean while the screw is still attached. Repeat the process of spraying, plunging, cleaning, and testing the barbell. With each cleaning, the barbell will move deeper into the gallery until it reaches the block surface. I'd steer clear of using a drill bit because it risks permanently overboring the gallery. In addition, if you don't already have one, that size drill bit is costly.
The factory plastic barbell can break down over time, causing your oil pressure to drop and your engine to lock up, which is not good. Anyone would benefit from it, and I would suggest it to them.
Excellent value for money; appears to be a high-quality product; fits well. Anyone working on a Gen 3 or 4 "LS" engine should have this book on hand.
It's exactly as described, but it's a little too tight. To make it fit, I had to file down the hole. Because it bent, I eventually had to purchase a different brand.
Get rid of the scrappy plastic garbage in your ls and enjoy some peace of mind.

I sanded both ends to make it fit (150, 300, 600, 1000, 1500), but it only went in 3/4 of the way and wouldn't come out. I had no choice but to push through the rest of the way and hope for the best.
