Is it possible for me to transport this in my golf cart?

It's unlikely. This is the engine of a small car.

Is this engine compatible with the JD 835R?

It will if your JD 835R's engine is the same as the JD835I S4's. But these don't seem to be the same to me. You'll have to look into it. With the exception of a minor distance at the v-neck, it was a perfect fit for me. This required some tweaking and the purchase of a slightly larger, readily available belt.
