Selected User Reviews For TYC 96007 Replacement Heater Core
Now that I've installed it, I can go ahead and proceed. 2 stars were deducted from the review. Listed below are the reasons. When compared to the original, it is thinner, resulting in less heat transfer, and the tubes have a slightly different bend. For them to fit, I had to rebend them a little. In total, an hour and a half was spent installing the system. You can do this on your own if you're an experienced do it yourselfer. It's not an impossible task, it just takes a while. If you're not an experienced do it yourselfer, you shouldn't try it on your own. If you are going to spend the time and effort to replace this part, try to find a factory OEM part instead. You will not be sorry. Twenty years were spent on the original. It's unlikely that this will happen. Though I haven't installed it yet, I have had it for a while so I'm writing a review for it despite not having installed it yet. I gave it 4 stars because of the following reasons. There is a lot of difficulty in installing this device. It is necessary to remove the ENTIRE dashboard. From left to right, from top to bottom, you will see gauges, radio, air conditioning controls, AC vents, dash pad, gloves, air bags, blower motor, center console (if there is last kicker is that you have to reclaim your Freon and open your AC in order to replace this part.
I can work it all out for you. It's not the kind of thing I want to do. I will put a jacket over it and put a shelf in front of it for now. My only real problem is that I cannot turn on my defroster.
The money you spend is well spent. It gets a 5 out of 5. It takes a lot of effort to put this thing together and that is what I would like to rate one star for. GM has made a brilliant decision when it comes to the placement of the heater core in the 2003 Chevy Silverado, so, as I've already said, PACK YOUR LUCK! We have a long day ahead of us. You might want to discuss the process with someone if you've never done this before. By the way, you're going to need a special tool to remove the old water lines from the Luckily, I bought the Lisle 37000 AC/Fuel line disconnect kit, and it worked great. The kit comes with 6 different sizes. A size that was nearly as large as the next largest fit If you are going to install a core, your AC unit must be drained of all coolant so that you can break the lines.
It works fine. It is possible to adjust the lines.
Although the heater core in this 200 Chevy Silverado was a pain to install, it has been working reliably for a I would buy one again and I liked this one a lot.
I really like it and it works well.
I found it to fit perfectly, shipping was fast, and I had no problems with it.
