A 1997 Ford Ranger was fitted with this fan. This was used with the SPAL gasket and 4 SPAL mounting flanges, all extra cost. It fits perfectly. The belt works perfectly. It would be nice to have a low speed option, but my part of the country has routine temperatures over 100F, so it is not a problem. Compared to the CCP fans, this fan is much heavier, its wire is the proper gauge for the current (around 20 amps) and it feels Even though it comes at a premium, if you're going to delete the mechanical fan, you shouldn't cut corners here. Quite satisfied with the outcome.
I would recommend this fan over the cheap generic one I started It runs right on temperature and keeps my 5 in good condition. It's nice and cool to swap in a 3L Vortec. Noise is a bit excessive but it is tolerable and I most definitely know it is This may just be the case with my application. SPAL is excellent. Very happy with it.
The radiators come with dual cores, so I fitted it to my 86' F150. Replaced the belt driven fan with a direct drive one Adapted the 16" Spal fan to the relay kit at 190 degrees to come on when it is engaged. I was surprised that the fan was so thin and yet it weighed quite a bit more than I expected. During the cab, the fan kicked on after the push button was pressed. Not too much load, but enough that it kept running. It worked great (it was 100 degrees outside) and the truck wasn't overheating. For the performance overall, I'd recommend it.
I was very pleased with the fan mounting. A good amount of air is moved. My system is switched manually, so I'm able to turn it on and off as I need to. In engine compartment, air is usually kept cooler with most of the engine running.
Spal is a term used to refer to a splinter. Is exactly what I need it to be.
This is the best fan puller out there. Very strong and excellent to work with. The book is recommended.
I love the way it cools my truck. For startups, I am using a 30 fuse.
In a nutshell, The air is really strong when it's pulled in.
