Installing the solid plug requires replacing the factory plug with a plug designed for solid installation. There was nothing about flipping that I could see. During the manufacture process, the factory plug contains wax that expands as the surface temperature increases. It is this plunger that increases the length of the plug when wax is pushed on it. The transmission fluid short circuits back into the transmission when it is cold, it does not go to the radiator or In this way, the fluid can heat up to its As soon as the plug reaches operating temperature, the bypass fluid is closed, allowing the water to flow to the radiator or cooler. When the solid plug in the kit is installed, this bypass is blocked, causing the fluid to constantly flow into the radiator/cooler. My transmission would run at 117 degrees on the highway with no load on it. As the truck loaded, the temperature in the city and on the highway went up. On YouTube, you can see how the internals of the temperature bypass are removed and replaced with drilling, tapping, and the installation of a plug, which keeps the fluid flowing to the radiator continually.
instructions that come with the kit include some steps, however some mechanical knowledge is required to help comprehend the instructions and how to install the kit correctly.
You do not need to replace the factory cooler it works in line with it.
Telephone number 800 As the site lists 2014-2016, I would choose GOM Information Services as my go-to source My decal was applied for the 1998 Silverado 1500 w/V8 engine. I installed it because I tow, and the trans temperature never exceeded 190 degrees even while towing a 2401RG Winnebago camper. I would highly recommend it.

The Chevrolet Tahoe Premier 4x4 was released in 2017. I am pleased with the installation. Even so, I have to say that removing the bumper/grille was tedious. This cooler is excellent and the parts to retrofit it are excellent as well. As soon as I get trans fluid temps, I'll update the post. I love quality products when companies make them. The modern world is filled with so much rubbish. A long, uphill drive, not towing, multiple miles at 77 mph, several miles of driving uphill The maximum transmission fluid temp reached by using the cooler was 198 F. Maximum thermometer temperature measured thus far while I was towing 5000lbs at 203 F up a freeway grade, at 65 mph with fluid temperature of 162 F Currently, about 70 degrees Fahrenheit is outside. So at this point, I'm guessing that, at the hottest of days, 120 deg F, towing up the steepest grades will only reach a maximum temperature of 220 degrees Fahrenheit. So it's a great product. I haven't read any complaints about it in reviews, and I'm aware of no problems. The product has been engineered to be installed as well as an OEM product would be if it came from the manufacturer.
This cooler I took to my local transmission shop and had it installed on my 2016 Silverado. Upon seeing this unit at the store, the man said it was one of the nicest he had ever seen, and he was surprised at how affordable Due to having recently replaced the transmission on my truck, it was important to me to have it installed. Conditions before emptying no trailer
Temperatures before emptying no trailer From 198 to With a trailer (hauling a 2DR Jeep Wrangler) (7,000 lbs) I am 208. The following are the results with an EMPTY The number 131 When the temperature reaches 145 degrees, it is not able to maintain the high temperature for long, and instead drops down to 135 degrees for consistent 75 mph. The following is a rough breakdown of the weight of the trailer (7,000 pounds) Item 145 I am 165 and 65 A 75 mph speed limit. The mountains must be texted, but the hills will have to be climbed. In Douglas County Colorado, the rate of 25 seems to be just fine!
I can't rate the installation easy because there were a few additional things they had to do because of earlier work on the truck and I didn't do any of the work myself. It took him an hour and half to do the work on a stock truck, but did not tell how much time he would have taken if it had been a different type of truck.
This tow vehicle is great for RV towing (31' travel trailer) 3,243 mi. It has worked without a hitch since installation! A fuel economy of 02 miles per gallon. The gas burner has been installed. A scale of 1 to 8 If you are installing on the same type of terrain, do step 5 before installing. The installation is not the simplest thing. There were a lot of body parts to remove, but it was well worth the effort.
It works great when used as a secondary cooler! I have a GMC Sierra 1500 five. It hit 212-miles per hour when the 3L transmission was engaged The temperature was 214 degrees when pulling our 7500 pound camper up a hill. It never got hotter than 198 degrees in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania even with the cooler installed. When it reached 198, the thermostat would open, which would cause it to As the winters in Buffalo are cold, I left the thermostat plugged in to avoid it getting too cold. Due to the way instructions were interpreted, it took us about 2 hours to install. This is a great option if you're towing a heavy load.
I was very satisfied with the packaging, the instructions were clear (with some help from Mishimoto's YouTube channel), and I had no difficulty installing the software. On my 2016 Yukon XL with the 5, it took me about two hours from start to finish. V8 engine with a 3L displacement.
I am in love with this. I'm not a car guy at all, but I was able to install this in a couple of hours with no problems. As for the performance, it's great. The trailer I am towing has a 34 ft length. I traveled to a location with a 6% grade and my transmission temperature climbed to 225 F There were two separate trips on the same mountain at the same time. installing the transmission cooler, I checked that everything was working. I went back to the mountain as well as climbed another one with an 8% grade at the beginning of the summer. I was very impressed that the temperature did not go over 162, and I was even more impressed that I had installed it and it had.
The 2016 Silverado 5 and I did a long tow at 65 mph up passes and we never reached 205 mph.
The fit was perfect, there was no need to purchase any extra parts, and it was very well engineered.
