Questions & Answers

Is this part compatible with a 2009 Ford F150 STX 4? 6 engine?

No, you'll require part 603-

Is this going to fit a 2001 Ford Taurus without any issues?

I believe it depends on whether you have a 2001 Ford Taurus with a V6 engine with a DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam) engine (also known as the Duratec engine) or an OHV (Over Head Valve) engine, also a V6, such as the "Vulcan Engine." The OHV is the more basic engine, while the Duratec is a more powerful upgrade option. The DOHC engine, I believe, has a sensor in its coolant reservoir that the OHV engine lacks. I know that replacement coolant reservoirs for the Taurus fit engines from 2000 to 2007, it just depends on whether the engine is DOHC or OHV. This Dorman reservoir worked for my 2002 Ford Taurus with the OHV engine.

Is this part compatible with a 1997 Ford Thunderbird V8?

Visit a website that sells Ford parts. Amazon doesn't say if a part fits your vehicle; on their site, there are seven different ones, none of which fit a Thunderbird, despite Amazon's claim that they all do, which is impossible.

Is this a coolant tank or a windshield reservoir? I'm not sure if I need the coolant reservoir because there's a picture of both. ?

The coolant, not the windshield washer, is the subject of this inquiry. This is the one you're looking for.

Well made, fits perfectly, and because it's clear, the coolant is visible and easy to check! On a friend's 2005 Taurus SE, I recently needed to replace the coolant recovery tank
5/5

I got tired of constantly topping off her coolant because I noticed it was getting lower and lower. I had previously replaced these, but cooling systems on these vehicles are notoriously difficult to work on. I wasn't optimistic that this would solve the issue. It's been a few days now, and everything is still working perfectly! The best part is that the tank is almost completely transparent! It is now possible to check the coolant level without difficulty! Maintaining a sufficient supply of coolant on the Taurus is a must. They will overheat if they fall too low, and the T- Because the transmission's cooling lines pass through the radiator, even the stats and sensors eventually fail. There is also a cap included.

A 2006 Ford Taurus MUST BE PURCHASED
5/5

In about 10 minutes, it was installed on a 2006 Ford Taurus without any problems. This reservoir came with a new cap, which I didn't notice in the specifications. This is my third Taurus, and they've all had issues with overheating. (Perhaps it's because I live in Arizona?) ) One of the things I've learned is to inspect the coolant reservoir on the Taurus' "sealed coolant system" frequently and thoroughly. Small cracks in the reservoir will let air in as well as water out! This is an enormous problem. The "system" will not be able to "recover" if air is allowed into it, and it will eventually overheat. This is an absolute must-have for our aging ladies.

With a minor modification, it actually fit my 96
5/5

I wasn't sure if this tank would fit when I purchased it. It would, according to the Amazon checker. My Taurus is a gen 3 from 1996. When this one arrived, I noticed it was the Taurus tank from Generation 4. Surprisingly, it fit underneath the hood and closed as well. The only issue was that a hose line that used to be in the front of the tank was now on the left, making the factory hose too short to connect to the engine. I was able to Uber to AutoZone and purchase a longer hose. It was well worth the time and effort to make the change. My car now runs at a much lower temperature than it did when the original expansion tank was installed. Even when it was brand new, it had a lot of potential. It will work if you buy it for a Taurus gen 3 vehicle. Just keep in mind that you'll need a longer hose.

Ford Taurus OHV (Optional High-Velocity Vehicle) from 2002
5/5

Compared to the old dark coolant reservoir, this clear one is a huge improvement. It's simple to set up, and once it's done, you'll have a good "window" into the state of your coolant/antifreeze. Because of a lesson I had to learn the hard way, this is my second reservoir. If your Taurus is prone to overheating, you should consider replacing the EGR Sensor, which has been redesigned several times and is known to fail. When they fail, the engine can become overheated and jerky to drive. This sensor is critical for cooling the engine by recirculating inert gas (exhaust gas that can no longer burn) into the combustion chambers to keep the combustion chamber temperature low enough to prevent pollutants from being produced; if it fails, the engine will run hotter than it was designed to, potentially causing Coolant Reservoir leaks.

I had no idea the factory bottle was cracked and weeping! Replace it if it's an original! Fits like stock in my 2001 Ford Taurus flex fuel
5/5

It's great to be able to see the level of coolant. Make sure you get some hose clamps because redoing the squeeze clamp with the lower (big) one is a pain. To make sure the cap is completely tightened, turn it until it clicks. The old bottle had weeping cracks that no one noticed! Because the thermostat was leaking and I could see stress marks in the factory bottle, I decided to replace it now that I had it open. I used a motorad locking thermostat, which I highly recommend as additional protection against overheating!.

It's far superior to the original part! I like how this section looks so neat and tidy, and it's all visible
5/5

through the medium of plastic I can see the fluid level a lot better now than I could with the old, tarnished one. The cap is also far superior to the original because it clicks, making it impossible to overtighten it as I did with my old one. When the old cap was under pressure, it was extremely difficult to remove. I don't remove it while it's hot, but my old cap was a pain to remove after it cooled down when it was subjected to heat pressure. If you try to remove the cap while it's hot, it'll squirt hot coolant in your face and hands, causing severe burns! This new one is absolutely perfect! Thank you, Dorman, for making a good replacement, and thank you, Amazon, for carrying this brand and shipping my order quickly!.

However, there is a great deal
5/5

It's nearly impossible to remove the rust. One of these has a lot of gunk in it. (There are far too many short passages. ) )br>This item is available at all parts stores, but it costs $50 to $100. br>I came across a store that sold "used ones. " They were only clean to a degree. (I could smell it in the bleach. ) )br>This is brand new and half the price! I was planning on flushing the system and pitching the old reservior, but it's currently 2 degrees outside. br>It arrived two days earlier than expected. 15 degrees was the temperature at the time! br>However, this is a fantastic deal!.
