Questions & Answers
These fittings, unfortunately, do not have a torque specification. Except for the 8mm kit, which requires bottoming out the nut, you don't want to tighten them all the way down. They should be snug, but not too tight, without requiring excessive force. It's a ferrule that needs to be snugged up against the tube.

So I installed this on a 2014 Ford Flex because after replacing the front end after a wreck, I didn't notice the AC high pressure rubber section of line was touching the serpentine belt, which wore a groove into the rubber line. br>br>I pulled vacuum on the system and it was holding fine. br>Went to charge the system and after adding about 12oz of r134 the ac compressor kicked on and the high side built pressure an hour later. br>It maintained vacuum, so I charged the system with 36 ounces of r134a. br>There aren't any drippings. The air conditioning was excellent. For a total of 48 hours, to be precise. The dyed oil I had added to the system was leaking from my mcgyvered fittings, which I could see. br>br>After rebuilding this car from a wreck, I didn't want to replace the entire line because it was a huge job. And the line was pricey; I came across a few repair kits but didn't think they'd hold up. br>br>Then I saw this one and liked how it had the stock style hose crimps securing the hose and used compression fittings, plus the price was reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. br>br>With the help of a small pipe cutter, I removed the damaged rubber section from the aluminum tubing. br>Use the 400 grit emery cloth that came with the kit to polish the ends. After cleaning the ends with alcohol, I applied a light coat of AC system oil to the alum tube ends and all fittings. br>Because the ferrule fit loosely on my high-pressure aluminum tubing (I purchased the 3/8" hose kit), I was worried it wouldn't seal. The instructions said not to tighten it until the nut bottomed out, but I was going by feel and didn't want it to leak, so I probably tightened them too much. I was probably half a turn away from bottoming the nut out, but the ferrule was loose on the tubing, so I wanted to make sure the compression fitting formed a good seal. br>I completed the job, and the hose appears to be of good quality. It's impossible to tell that it's been fixed. br>br>It stayed vac, so I added a little more oil and charged with 36 oz of r134. br>On a scorching hot day, the high side pressure reached 250 psi when fully charged. For the past week, the air has been bitterly cold. There isn't any evidence of leakage! br>So far, I'm impressed, and this patch hose was much easier to install than the mcgyver method I tried before, and it cost about the same. br>When installing, just be careful. If it ever leaks, I'll keep you updated. So far, I'm giving it 5 stars!.
Great product, but I wish they'd send two extra ferrules because they're soft and easily broken.
I purchased three of them, and all of them are leaking.
Installing it was a breeze. Everything went smoothly.
I'd buy it again because it worked so well.
