Questions & Answers
To do this, you simply remove the glove box door and cut a hole in the heater box, if the blend door was damaged, it can be removed without much difficulty. Once the new one is in, the old one is removed from the hole. The new one is installed, and then the old one is removed. Then you reconnect the heater, and close the hole with aluminum tape. As well as seeing the repair done, a number of good tutorials on you tube are available.
There is a black cover at the bottom of the actuator. By opening the glove box, the only access to the car is to the door. In order to access all the bolts required to remove the actuator, you'll need a flexible driver or joints, but working with a space in that direction is extremely difficult. There are several tutorials on youtube that explain how to do it.
If the door is bad it will not change from cold to heat and it will make a noise. The only way to be sure is to cut the plastic and if it is broken install the blend door. Here is the video I watched on YouTube that helped me do the whole project.
It is not possible to remove the metal piece

Initially, I had trouble getting the foil tape to stick, but a quick wipe with an alcohol wipe fixed the problem. It looks like the part is of good quality. The plastic part on the original flap has been replaced with a metal part to prevent breakage. Everything looks to be in good working order, and I believe the repair will last the truck's entire life!.
Any mechanic who has worked on a '97 F150 heating system, especially the blend door, knows how valuable this part is. I think it was about 2 hours from start to finish It took me three hours to work in the winter cold, but was significantly easier than the formal fix that involved removing the entire dashboard (including the steering column) to access the heating box. It's fairly simple and straightforward, but I suggest you do some research first if you're not sure. If you look for "97 f150 blend door replacement" on the net, you should be able to find all of the information you need. I would recommend an oscillating cutting tool with a multipurpose or plastic blade for easy and straight cuts. The immediate heat generated by the replacement was greatly appreciated during the cold months, just as a central air conditioning unit would have been appreciated during the.
om my 1998 F150 I needed a replacement blend door and this was the perfect solution. If you cut a hole through the glove box and the air box, it's easy to install. Because there is a removable bottom stud, it makes it easier to attach to the bottom hole. It's easy to do, just look it up on YouTube if you've never done it before. The overall quality of this item has been very good. Several hundred dollars were saved on repairs because of it.
I ordered this because I was tired of switching between hot and cold temperature manually. Luckily, I already had a hole cut in my glovebox, so it only took a matter of seconds to remove the broken piece. As a result, the actuator motor had to be removed so that the metal portion of the door could be inserted from the bottom, then the motor was attached. I did not have any trouble installing it. It took about 3 hours, among which 1 hour was dedicated to the process. My goal was to figure out how to remove the heat duck on the bottom in 5 hours. It works perfectly with the new one.
The part about working like a charm worked perfectly. After replacing the blend door, I had ice cold air again and did not have to tear the dash away from the car. It took about 30 minutes for us to switch it from the glove box after watching a few Youtube videos.
I like that it can be installed without tearing the dash apart. No matter how you decide to install it, I'm sure it will work out beautifully My initial impression is that this part is of very high quality, and I think that it will last longer than the expedition for which it was installed.
I like how well it fits and works.
Thanks to someone who made a replacement that doesn't require removing the whole dash to replace this door, I was able to keep the whole dash. The first time is still rather challenging, but you can do it in close to two hours the first time.
