This is a good part that gets the job done

Subaru does not include this part with their OEM thermostat for whatever inexplicable reason. I understand that a new thermostat would probably "work" with an old used gasket, but given the low cost and the difficulty in accessing the thermostat housing, it's foolish not to use a new gasket if the thermostat is being replaced. Spend a few dollars more and you'll save yourself a lot of aggravation.
