No, this is not the case. Although there is a vent tube, the fluid level is difficult to see. There is no level indicator on the side tube. It's a lovely piece, but it's a little on the heavy side.

For an overflow tank, it's perfect. The machine work and finish are both excellent. I wish the top vent/overlow had been tapped for a mushroom fitting or additional plumbing, but I understand why it is only a pin hole (keeps debris out/most likely doesn't need the plumbing). br>br>It didn't come with any bolts or hardware for mounting the bracket to the car. This is perfectly acceptable because they cannot possibly be aware of every circumstance. It's nice that the tank came with both a push fit and a ferrule type connection. br>br>I don't like the look of Moroso billet mounting brackets, so I don't use them. It's entirely a matter of personal taste (I prefer the hose clamp look). br>br>Overall, everything is fine.
I looked all over for an expansion tank and this one was the best fit. It has a tube on the inside that allows coolant to return, and I filled it with the hose barbed end and drained it with the provided drain. If you want to prevent uncontrolled overflow of this tank, drill and tape the weep hole at the top. If this tank was double in length and had a taped vent hole, it would be perfect. The mount bracket worked fine, I just made a template for hole location, drilled, and mounted it.
Quality is excellent. Would suggest.
