As long as you have a steering shaft that is 13/16" in diameter, it will work.
It will not fit your 1998 1500.

I should've known better. Dorman's garbage is typical. Wouldn't fit on the steering column of my 1976 Chevy K20. Fits on the spline of the steering box, but is far too large to bolt up to the steering column. In comparison to the original, it appeared to be far too large.
When installing the coupling on the steering box out of the car, both of the "rivets" holding the rubber to one side of the adapter literally fell out, the old ones had massive mushroomed peened over heads, the new ones had almost no excess material to keep them from backing out, so I removed them and replaced them with grade 8 hardware instead, if they hadn't fallen out they might have come apart on me during use = no steeri.
This was required for the conversion of a 1969 GMC truck from manual to power steering.
The item was made very cheaply and did not function.
It was necessary to remove the steering column, but it worked perfectly.
Dorman makes good products, but it took more than two weeks to arrive, and I refused to accept delivery.
The OE joint was falling apart, and local parts store salespeople gave me dirty looks when I asked for a replacement, but Dorman still makes the correct replacement part for a 35-year-old truck! A year later, the steering is still tight, with almost no slop - It was a combination of a rebuilt box and a rug joint that got the job done.
This is an excellent substitute. To make it easier to choose, consider putting the size on the packaging.
