I'm not sure if I used it on a 2005 Silverado with a 4 cylinder engine. 8L I apologize, but I had to call a GM dealer to double-check the part number.
My truck was a 2005 Chevy 1500 4x4 ext cab with a 4. I'm not sure about the trans, but I'm pretty sure it's the same. It appears to be a good match. One way to be sure is to contact your local GM dealer and obtain the part number. I hope this information is useful, and best of luck.
In the year 2000, I owned a Silverado 1500. It was a perfect fit for me at the age of eight. In terms of a 2006, I'm not sure.

I only used the bottom half of the cable, which had been eaten away by the road salts. For several months, I've had the new section on and running beautify. The lower half was installed in about an hour with the help of my son. If you only want to use the bottom half, check under the drivers' side floor mats to see if the cable is in good shape; if it is, just putting on the bottom half may suffice; Unless the upper half is frayed or has a problem where it connects to the shifting lever. Check it out before you get too far into the replacement process; it could save you a lot of time and effort. Yes, we had to make some adjustments to the cable adjustment where the two halves are connected. Good luck, and check out "utube" for some helpful videos on the replacement process and other topics.
Don't use aftermarket parts if you have an AC Delco part. The metal U-shaped clips that hold the cable in place on both ends are not included.
I first tried the aftermarket version, which was difficult to adjust and, once adjusted so that it would go into all gears, was extremely stiff. It lasted about a year before it finally gave out. That was removed, and this GM cable was installed in its place. It appears to be brand new.
After failing to install an aftermarket cable because the inner cable was 1/2 inch too short, I did what I should have done in the first place and purchased this OEM part, which works flawlessly.
I had all of my options once everything was put together and adjusted in the middle of the threads. Pioneer's previous cable would not adjust to get into first gear or park.
I had to scramble to find a replacement clip because the one that came with it broke very easily, but the cable itself is of excellent quality.
all good.
When it's possible and affordable, I prefer to buy AC Delco. Amazon is to be commended.
