Questions & Answers

Is there a way to make this work with a two? 95 Chevy Cavalier 2L LS Coupe with 3-speed transmission My vehicle is not a convertible, but rather a two-door coupe. Is this part compatible with my vehicle?

On a 1994 LS Coupe, I installed the part. It's simply inconvenient to feed it through the firewall and console. I can't comment on the 1995 model because I haven't seen one. I believe it would be appropriate. I visited every auto parts store in my neighborhood. The part was not available in any of the stores. There was no way to place an order on the computer. Amazon or a local GM dealership were my only options. The best price was found on Amazon, and the part was genuine AC Delco. I hope this has been of assistance. You should also expect to replace the fuel pump and filter. Cavaliers have a tendency to bite. Doug

Is it compatible with my Pontiac Grand Prix SE from 2002?

This is for the years 1995 and 1996. Sunfire and Cavalier from 2005.

Hello. I'm wondering if this cable will fit a 2002 Chevrolet Corsa 1. 6 4doors. Thank you for your time?

This is for a floor shift Cavalier, so I don't believe that's the case. The Corsica is almost certainly going to be different because those were discontinued in 1996, and this is for a 2003 model.

Is this compatible with my Pontiac Sunfire 2001? 2L?

Yes, the Sunfire and Cavialier (of similar years) are mechanically identical cars. Trim and body badging are the only things that differ.

IT GETS THE JOB DONE
5/5

This item was purchased for a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2 liter engine. 2L Ecotec engine that arrived in Lagos, Nigeria in what I consider to be reasonable time, in excellent condition, and appears to be of excellent quality. The installation of this part on the aforementioned car most likely took longer than expected. Let me now mention a couple of things that may be of assistance to others: 1. br>br> Based on other people's experiences, I assumed I'd have to lift the car, scoot underneath, and wrestle the shift cable from the engine side on this Pontiac Sunfire. br>br>FACT: The cable must be untangled from the cabin's interior. Free the end that connects to the engine's shift linkage, then get in the car to finish the job (don't bother jacking it up or practicing your contortionist skills under it). br>br>You may need to remove the front passenger seat by loosening a panel around the center console with a torx wrench (you'll notice it when you need to raise the carpet); lift the carpet by loosening a panel around the centre console by loosening a panel around the centre console by loosening a panel around the centre console by loosening a panel around the centre console by loosening a panel around the centre console by loosening a panel Then, under the carpet, free the air conditioning duct that serves the rear passengers. After that, all you have to do is work the cable off the gear shift, then pull everything into the cabin, and you're done. br>br>To install, connect the gear shift end, then slide the rest of the cable through the cowl into the engine; finally, go to the engine and connect the other end to the shift linkage. I completed this task in Park mode, but I've read that it can also be done in Neutral. br>br>I hope that this information is useful.

This part fits a Chevy Cavalier from 2002
5/5

For my 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, this was the exact part I was looking for. One day, out of nowhere, my car's transmission failed. I could rev it up, but any time I tried to shift into reverse or anything else, the shifter felt sloppy and wouldn't stay in any gear except park. I ordered this part, had my car towed to a nearby auto shop (which was covered by my insurance), and only had to pay $80 for labor. This part is for sale!!.

The exact replacement part for my car's needs, and at a lower price than I could find anywhere else! For a 1995 Cavalier with a four-speed automatic transmission, I needed a shift cable
5/5

I found it for $20 less on Amazon Prime and received it in one day with free shipping, compared to the few places I could find it online for $60. I had no idea Amazon had a "garage" app that allows you to enter your car's information and search for parts. Their system is actually better and faster than the two major auto repair shops in the area (Autozone and Advance), which didn't even have it. br>br>Depending on the engine size and VIN, there was some debate online about whether to use this cable or another. I took a calculated risk and decided that this was the one for me, for a 4-star rating. speed up the transmission br>br>Installation was quick and easy, taking only 30 minutes: 1. br>br> Ramps are ideal for lifting the front of the car. TO BE SAFE, ALWAYS SET THE PARKING BRAKE AND PLACE BRICKS BEHIND THE WHEELS! <- ACT ON ITbr>br>Note: If you haven't already done so, apply the parking brake and place bricks behind the tire. br>br>2. Disconnect the cable from the transmission's shift lever. This can be done from the engine bay, or if you're like me, it'll break off and you'll be fine. Push the shift lever as far "forward" (toward the front) as it will go to put it in park. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Disconnect the cable from the transmission's cable holder, which is located just behind the shift lever. From the top, I did it all by hand. 4. br>br> Remove the center console from inside the car. There are a few screws to be found. You can find a how-to on the internet. A hidden screw, under a plastic cap, is located in the front compartment closest to the firewall. It took me a while to figure out where that one was. 5. br>br> Remove the gear-related items once the console has been removed. shift. It's held in place by a pin, but it eventually slips up and off. 6. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> br>br>7. Disconnect the cable from the shifter. I found that routing the cable under the dash frame irritated me, and it was near-impossible to do so with the carpet covering it. It is impossible to get rid of this. As a result, I halved the carpet "lip. " When you see it, you'll know what it is. After that, you can pull the cable free from the dash frame thingy. 8. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> Pull the cable out from underneath the car by going under it. 9. br>br> The process of installation is the polar opposite of that of removal. Before putting it in park, connect the cable to the shifter. Step 2 should have put your transmission lever into park. Check to see if the cable can be connected. Before the cable will connect and lock into place on the cable holder, you may need to adjust the "depth" adjuster (you'll notice it when you see it). To get the cable to clip into place, you may find it easier to shift the transmission from park to another gear by hand. br>br>I'm a seasoned mechanic, and it took me about half an hour, but anyone with a screwdriver can do it. If you don't have anyone to help you, enlist the assistance of one of your friends. Paying someone else to do it will cost you money, and they won't be able to guarantee their work anyway.

This cable is an exact match for the original
5/5

This cable was $49 with Prime two-day shipping when I ordered it on a Friday afternoon. The cable was an exact match to the original, as it should be, and I received the package via USPS Sunday early afternoon. Installation was simple, but not overly so; there are a few guides online, as well as a few YouTube videos, if you search for it. Thank you, Amazon, for having the part at such a low price and for getting it to me so quickly; I was back on the road in two days.

It was an excellent decision that saved me a lot of money

Also, a fantastic product. In a heartbeat, I'll be back! Chevy Cavalier Eco 2 from 2004. 2 Enginebr>br>I followed one of the procedures on this page. For me, the most difficult part was getting the cable's end out of the bracket that held it in place near the engine. The difficult part was pushing the plastic clips together to get the cable to slide out of the bracket after disconnecting the cable from the transmission lever and removing the black pin. The lack of space made it difficult to depress the clips. As a result, I had to cut them off at some point. It was fairly simple to replace the new cable. As Martin mentioned, do not return the black adjustment pin (under the hood) to its original position until you've adjusted the gear positions (at both the shift selector and transmission ends - see below). If you don't make sure they're both in "Park," your gear positions will be off (I did the same thing). You should be fine once you've got the adjustment right. This saved me hundreds of dollars and provided me with an excellent learning opportunity! br>Create a new post | Permalink.

Installation is fairly simple
5/5

It is much easier to install if you remove the master cylinder bracket and work (lean over) from the passenger side. When installing the new cable, make sure the old snap grommet is completely removed from the transmission switch! I had no idea a piece was still attached because it's very difficult, if not impossible, to see. I had to remove the switch to fully remove the old grommet from the shaft, so the new cable end should snap into place easily.
