Questions & Answers

Those who claim to be self-professed Can you adjust?

There are no self-adjusting mechanisms in these.

Can this be used with a hydraulic surge system that uses 10-inch drums?

Should we ask "Can your hydraulic drums be used with electric brakes?"? Invest in electric drums and hubs so you will have the most fun. You have a very small chance of them working with your hydraulic drums. All you need is in one place, so you can A person who had 3 roadside hub changes, an axle change, and finally electric brakes after having hydraulic brakes this summer can speak for me. Do it right the first time, then you won't have a headache later.

How are they made? Are they made in America or in ?

From a local dealer, I bought Made in USA Dexter brand products for $11 more each. The fact that I'm supporting a local business and getting Made in USA for only $11 is a nice bonus in my book.

Does this set of brake magnets include the magnet for the brakes?

Road safety is improved with the use of this device
5/5

The nuts on one side were not the right ones, so I emailed the seller, and two days later I received the correct I was really pleased with the customer service I received. Installation was simple after taking off the old one. I was able to lift 5200 pounds once the wiring and adjustment were complete. Stopping the boat was easy. In the past, the wife would have yelled at me to break early while sitting in the back seat. When I stopped, the boat would push my Chevy Avalanche and I would sweat profusely. Furthermore, I experienced fewer "thumps" as the boat slammed against the truck whenever I was breaking. This program definitely deserves recommendations to anyone wondering when it is the right time to purchase it or experiencing the problems described in this review. And to top it off Putting it on your truck would help you save brake pads.

It is a good value
4/5

I used these brake assemblies for my Dexter axle that weighs 3500 pounds. That was much easier than buying replacement pads and springs for the same price. The wires could have been tucked and secured a bit better, but for my own safety I tied them back a bit. There seems to be no issue with the magnets. We found adjusting them to be a bit difficult, but it wasn't too challenging. This is a quality product that would be worth the price. If there are any issues, I will update the rating.

About a half inch difference between the mounting patterns of 4 bolts
4/5

You need to use your original plates. We got delivery to California only a few days after ordering, and this was during Christmas. There is nothing wrong with the brake units. I have a 2015 Forest River Avenger Travel Trailer which has a 4 bolt pattern that is different from my own. In other words, I was not able to simply attach a bolt like most people. Instead, I had to remove my existing assembly and replace the parts with the parts from the new assembly. Luckily the springs were not too tight, which leaves it a little bit challenging to install. Even so, I was equipped with the right tools and managed to do the job. It would have been wonderful if I could locate brakes with a wider bolt pattern next time. That would have saved me a lot of time and effort. However, the brakes DO WORK.

I should be able to install it easily
4/5

The parts were a direct swap on my Kenskill camper trailer '72. There's no difference in price between them and a pair of shoes, but theoretically they should be easier to install since four bolts and a bit of wiring are needed. The process of adjusting them was a bit of a learning experience for me, but only because I had never adjusted drum brakes before. However, after watching a few YouTube videos, I had them set up just fine. I haven't put that many miles on them yet, but so far they have worked well. As far as building quality is concerned, I do not see them falling apart or anything like that.

Buying self-adjusting ones is a good idea
5/5

My self-adjustment could have been more extensive if I had spent more money. These were a bit of a learning curve and fyi, they are not supplied with new nuts, so make sure to keep In my limited experience, I learned that the curved brake arm is usually on the front of the trailer side. Finally, the adjuster goes above the spring so that when the wheels are spun up, the wheel expands, so make sure that the adjuster has been installed An external wheel bolt backing plate has one wire going to the ground. There is also a blue brake power 12v system. As then brakes are adjusted, the wheel turns quarter forward, stops, and the wheel turns again. Manually activate all brakes a few times using 12 V power, then adjust all of them. It is not advisable to activate when parts are still separated as you may get hurt or damage the Good luck, it will take a lot of time and effort, but will be worth it in the end.

In the months since the trailer was installed, I have used it numerous times without a hitch
5/5

Additionally, I can control them very easily with my controller. These brakes were installed in my 18' trailer as replacements for the worn-out dexter brakes that were installed previously. In lieu of just replacing the brake pads, I chose to replace the whole brake units. Despite having been installed less than a month ago, I have already used the trailer a few times. I can change settings when I am loaded or unloaded and they respond very well to my controller.

The nuts and washers are not included, so they rip you off
3/5

There is no problem with the quality. You are being ripped off by not receiving nuts and washers with your order. It is only after you complain that you are sent nuts and washers. That means you'll have to wait a week for them to arrive. Considering that they save about $1, it makes sense. Nuts and washers are not included in the set, so the price is $35 per set. This amounts to For every 1000 units they sell, they profit $1350. That may not seem like much, but at least it's not nothing.

This tool needs nuts and washers in order to work
3/5

No nuts or washers were included with the brakes when I received them. It's also not common to find these bolts in most hardware stores, so you can't go to your nearest one and get them. There's clearly something wrong with their quality control. Currently I have not been able to mount them, so I cannot tell you how they work. There is no way the quality of the product can be very good if they can't even ship all of the product.
