My opinion is that it isn't true. As far as I remember, they always come In addition, it really is a good idea to have the same amount of grip on both sides of your axle. The trailer may be inclined to try and change direction if the trailer is braking harder on one side than the other. There are several different recipes for making friction material for brakes. The pad material in some brake pads is soft and grips well, while in other brake pad recipes the material is designed as a harder material and does not grip. Brake shoes and pads with lifetime warranties are usually the ones with lifetime warranties. In fact, I used to work in a brake pad/shoe manufacturing plant (Federal Mogul), and we really did make them that way. It is likely that lifetime brakes are made of a lot of metal. Despite the harsh treatment, the pads did not wear out on the drums or rotors!
