I never knew how an electrical brake worked on a trailer. Then I saw this and I was a bit skeptical that these brakes really worked There is no need to stop anything from a trailer brake since they are only drag brakes and aren't meant to stop anything at all, but the brake mechanism and design seem a bit bizarre as to how they actually Because the brakes and drum I pulled had worn out, it may have been the lack of maintenance however, the fact that the magnet was designed to drag across the face of the drum almost made me consider this to be a bad design decision. It may be wise to have the magnet only draw near to the drum while you apply the brakes, but I believe often times it actually comes into contact with the drum, resulting in The brake controller I set to too much force may have affected the performance, but either way I've probably gotten around 30k out of these brakes and drums before I've had to change them, so perhaps this is how and when they should have worn In spite of this, I am thankful I changed them, as I now have new drums, plates, mechanisms, and magnets, and am ready to go It does seem like an exact oh yeah meme replacement part. But you need a left and right one, don't order two at once thinking you are doing the whole axle. The product description does kind of imply that you need left and right, but just a heads up.
A self-adjusting brake system was installed on the 5th wheel. After carefully removing the hub, cut two (or three) electrical wires, remove four bolts, and the wheels should come off without any problems. Then look no further than this company if you are looking for some great brakes. That's all I have for you! There will also be some minor adjustments necessary as well as "burnishing in" of the brakes.
**Update** I put it on my RV and had an issue. I contacted Brechbill directly and they instructed me how to proceed. The person I spoke with over the phone was very helpful and gave me advice on troubleshooting As it turned out, he was right about the matter as well. As a result, I am bumping up my rating and reviewing because good customer service must be acknowledged They are a company that I would order from However, I would still suggest to change the list description to remove the Lippert title. It matters to some people what brand they have. It would have been great if they had provided locking washers and nuts for spent quite a bit of time and energy finding exactly the right size and threading them around town. The fine is 7/16ths ($0. 16), for those who were wondering. This assembly was listed as a Lippert assembly, but it was an AxleTech assembly. I am going ahead with the installation since I see that the product is nearly identical, but the listing should accurately In addition to this perhaps a more minor point, no extras were included with the installation. A shrink connector, for example, is an electric shrink fitting that consists of nuts, washers, etc. Both of these things were present in the Lippert assembly I received on the right side.
Is compatible right out of the box!.
Lippert products are NOT to be found here. It was very misleading and left me The situation is not good. I am not a distributor for Lippert Components' brake products. Instead, this is a made in China ripoff called Axeltek, which comes in a Lippert box and has a few Lippert stickers. A very misleading representation on Amazon. And it doesn't seem like an honest vendor from my point of view.
My favorite aspect of the product is its ease of installation and its quality.
This bolts right on to my 2016 R-Type Although the original is better built than the new one, it still doesn't quite stand out.
Originally, I was planning to get just the magnet, but the entire brakes, springs, and backing proved to be more valuable!.
