Hello, the brake fluid tester is compatible with both dot 3 and dot 4 brake fluid. br>Dot 4 liquid is also more widely used than dot 3 liquid due to its superior performance. br>There will be a change to the package.
Thank you very much for your inquiry. DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5 brake fluids can all be tested using the ITEQ Brake Fluid Tester. DOT 5 Brake Fluid is compatible with DOT 1 brake fluids, but not with DOT 1 brake fluids. The primary distinction between DOT 4 and DOT 5 is that DOT 4 is a four-wheel drive vehicle, whereas DOT 5 is a five-wheel drive vehicle. The boiling point of one of the brake fluids is nearing. DOT 4 and DOT 5 are two of the most common types of highways in the United States 1 are glycol-based brake fluids that are widely used in the automotive and cycling industries. They're compatible, so you can mix them up without causing damage to your brake system. br>However, do not confuse this with DOT 5, which is silicone-based. It's alcohol-based and shouldn't be mixed with other DOT fluids. br>I hope you will find this information useful.
The metal prongs should be the only thing that goes into the fluid. Try it with new brake fluid as a control.
Although I do not own a Hyundai, my Nissan does have a strainer that can be removed. Check to see if yours is detachable. I simply inserted my finger into the hole and applied outward pressure to the wall, which caused it to lift out. I hope this information is useful. The device, on the other hand, is undeniably effective.

I bought four of these for my shop and wanted to give them a test run before we started using them to check customers' brake fluid. I used all 204 to test NEW UNOPENED DOT 3 brake fluid and it failed, Stated 3% moisture content, I thought it was a fluke, so I grabbed a different container% These are either not compatible with DOT 3 or are completely useless.
There were WAY TOO MANY false readings on this brake fluid tester. My brake fluid was dirty, and my vehicle had previously been owned, so I believe it needed to be replaced. I was taken aback when the brake fluid liquid tester indicated that the fluid was "OK" (in yellow) before indicating that it needed to be changed (in red). Please double-check the dates and times on the pictures you've been given. Also, notice the color of the fluid in the reservoir; I took it to the mechanic to have the brake fluid changed, so you'll notice the difference in color. br>br>I'm returning the device and advising others to look at the one-star reviews. It gave false readings, according to one reviewer, and the seller stated that he needed to show the false readings. So, I'm going to show them to you, and I'm interested in hearing from the seller.
I tested it with new brake fluid, brake fluid that had recently been changed, and brake fluid that was two and a half years old (6 months past due) based on comments. The new stuff showed 0% moisture in the green (1%), and the 2 1/2 year old fluid was full- out of the blue ( 4%). I used Pentosin Super DOT 4 to change the old stuff the next day and the new reading was (0%). Finally, because the instructions stated that the probes should be rinsed with water afterward, I double-checked it with plain water, and it read There's no reason for me to think this is incorrect or broken.
AAA claimed to have changed the brake fluid, but there were a few red flags, including tinted fluid in the reservoir, that made me wonder if it was really changed. I went back to the shop and showed them my new ITEQ Brake fluid Liquid tester pen, which proved my point.
claims that the product is compatible with DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluids. ONLY DOT4 is stated. My car uses DOT 3 brake fluid, and the tester I bought was advertised as being able to test both DOT3 and DOT4 brake fluids. However, the product I received stated right on the package that it could only be used to test DOT4 brake fluid, with no indication that it could also be used to test DOT3 fluid. In addition, the purchased package had a blister pop up for a AAA battery to power it, which was empty, and the package stated that a AAA battery was included. Despite the fact that the ad stated that the battery was not included, it's a little shady to leave incorrect information on the package for customers to see.
Because of the way it works, I assumed the first one was defective, but it wasn't. Only the first green light (which is also the on button) illuminates if water is not detected in the brake fluid. When there is no water in the brake fluid, the less than 1% water light will not illuminate. I tried it by pouring brake fluid and a bit of water in a shot glass and it shot up to 4% indicating that the device works.
A body that is far too thick. Apart from the fact that it's made of cheap material and that mine came with the battery cover pushed into the battery compartment, it's not suitable for modern vehicles. Indeed, many pictures of cars that appeared to be much older could be found in the reviews section. br>br>This would not be possible for Nissan or Toyota vehicles (2015 and newer). It arrived in poor condition, so I decided not to keep it, but I tried to make it work. Modern brake fluid reservoirs do not allow such a thick item to be inserted so far into the reservoir tank that the probes can reach the fluid. br>br>So, even if it was well-built and made of good materials, there's no way to get the probes down into the reservoir on these fuel-cell-powered vehicles. Sure, on a V8 truck, they might have enough room to make a large brake fluid reservoir with easy access, but in my case, both brake fluid reservoirs are tucked away and have limited diameters, making access with this thing that seems even wider than a big felt marker difficult. br>br>It would have been a great price if it had worked for me, but the fact that it appeared to be a previously-used item, combined with the fact that it appeared to be a previously-used item, it was not. a pre-owned item that has been returned It will be returned to Amazon due to existing damage (but it was sold as new).
It does what it says. I used this tester pen on some old DOT4 brake fluid that had been sitting in the garage for a few years, and it showed 3% water in the fluid. br>br>I also tested brake fluid in two cars with the tester pen. Both had their brake fluid changed a few years ago, and the tester showed 1%, which is roughly where I would have expected.
