I began hearing the tell-tale squeal a month ago, which said that my brakes were requiring some attention. The brother I grew up with I asked my in-law, a military mechanic, if he could come and look at my brakes, and he taught my husband and me how to do it. The doctor told me to order pad, and these were the ones he recommended. For $13, I found the rear pads and for $16, I found the front pads. In the end, my rear pads were the only ones in need of replacement since my rotors and shoes were in super condition. In less than an hour, I had my brakes back in working order. They've been great, and I am very pleased with them - thank you! There are a lot of my brothers- A favorite IPA of my wife's).
For the 2012 Prius, there is a set of rear bumpers. There are no problems with the pads, guides, or springs. Please be aware that multiple Prius cars in this age range come with one slide bolt that is not greased from the factory and is completely stuck. There is a problem if you experience lower mileage than you expect and don't quite feel as if your brakes are releasing correctly from a stop.
I had no problem with the fit of the pad, and the price was excellent. It was only the springs that fitted into the holes in the base of the pad that gave me trouble. They could not stay in place for some reason, popping out constantly. As a matter of fact, I used them without issue for quite some time. As you can see, the springs are virtually identical on the Wagner, maybe just a little smaller in diameter so they can't grip into the hole.
I have been using these brakes for about 60K miles in both the A new one is needed It does the job for my Uber/Lyft driver needs, and I install them myself, so spending $25 every 30K on a brake and hardware kit is a blessing. It is odd that the front and rear have to be replaced as well at the same time, given that my vehicle has a front-wheel drive. Still, they don't make any noise, stop pretty well, and are among the cheapest ceramic pads I could find from a reliable brand (Wagner is not too bad either). My brakes are just right with these.
It wasn't packaged very well, and I expected something like a paper cushion to separate the pads. Instead, there was just plastic packaging. The kit came with everything needed for installation on my 2012 Toyota Prius, but when I took off the rear pads (after 125k miles), the pads had more material than these did. Replacing the OEM pads with these will be as simple as returning them.
You only need to install them correctly to be able to use them. Although not the world's prettiest brakes, they function just as well as original equipment and are cheaper than OEM. For my 2009 Toyota Matrix, I will stick with this brand.
I found the quality of the product to be not so good. The fact that I had to use these pads meant I needed the car back on the road. Since my brakes were already apart, I could not use anything else. The paint was all lumpy and gobbled up after I removed one of the shim plates, on a surface that very much needs to be flat and smooth in order to work with. In order to replace the shim, I had to file the flat. In the box there was only 2 grams of grease, which was insufficient.
The noise is very low. It is imperative you install the pads with the two nubs and wear sensor on the inside of the rotor with the center nub fitting in the indentation of the caliper piston, otherwise you will wear them out unevenly and.
