3/5

I've included a photo as an example. It appears that this is a problem within the AC DELCO network. If a part number is correct but the actual part is not or if two such parts are listed under that number, then it is incorrect. Normally, this part does not have the outer flange that protects the brake rotor, except on Saturns. Yes, I understand that calling it a splash shield makes no sense here since it doesn't have any shield on it. In reality, it shouldn't be anything more than just the inner flange with a three hole pattern and a tab that protrudes from the plate to hold the ABS speed sensor plug. In reality, this should be called a wheel bearing spacer because it adds some space between the spindle and wheel bearing mounting flange, which is what makes the brake rotor sit in the This space is critical otherwise the rotor would nearly rub against the bracket holding the caliper in place. My knowledge is based on the fact that somebody else installed a wheel bearing previously and must have used an air chisel to remove the old one and never replaced the "sheild. ". My new wheel bearing was bolted to it (correct 3 hole pattern) and interference points were formed by hammering and punching them at the points where the shield struck the knuckle. Due to the short timeframe, I did not have the luxury of returning it and waiting the days it would have taken to replace it with a correct one. I have attached a photo, but Amazon may not let you view it. You can search some GM websites and find the actual photos of what the shield should have looked like.

This is a perfect fit! An old, very rusty one was half gone, causing the hub bearing to misalign
5/5

This new one replaced that one. It is now possible to attach all the parts as they were intended. We're getting ready to do the driver's side, so stay tuned!.
