Questions & Answers
It worked perfectly on a 2004 VW Passat. Calipers retract in a clockwise direction, which is how this kit works (to be clear, this kit only allows clockwise retraction). I understand that some newer VWs are anticlockwise, but it worked perfectly for me.
It is dependent on the type of brake calipers installed in your vehicle. A piston is the most common type, which is compressed with a C-clamp. clamp. This kit is for calipers that reset by "twisting." The rear brake calipers on BMW and MINI are usually twist-type. Consult a Haynes manual if you're not sure which type your vehicle uses.
Because they aren't vehicle specific, I'm guessing that something in the kit should work.
It should, in fact.

This is a good set that serves its purpose well. It is difficult to distinguish from competing brands; however, you can tell which ones are the same but have different cases. When compared to the Snap-on-it, the Snap-on-it is The quality is significantly lower on the smaller 7-piece set. Having said that, this set works well. The thrust bolts' threads are solid, but they should be properly lubricated. These appear to be quite durable when used properly, but I have my doubts about their ability to withstand some abuse, such as an impact or the use of a breaker bar to apply force. br>br>I prefer and use OEM tools because their products are of reasonable quality and come with a lifetime warranty. Although I have reservations about its ability to withstand daily professional use, based on my post-purchase usage experience, I believe this is a good buy for a DIYer.
If you want to do a brake job quickly, without damaging the caliper piston or ripping a brake line, this is a must-have. It only takes seconds to set up and get those calipers ready for new pads. Decompresses the pistons and saves a lot of time and knuckle skin. Works on almost any vehicle. The professional-grade kit is well-made, simple to operate, and durable. By doing my own brakes, I am able to save hundreds of dollars. My 2017 Volvo XC90 T6's front and rear bumpers, as well as our 2000 VW Beetle and 2015 Ford F150, all worked flawlessly. Both professional mechanics and the once-every-two-year DYI shade tree mechanic would benefit from this brake kit.
Because some cars must be turned cw, while others must be turned ccw, this set is preferable to the one that only twists in one direction. So far, every vehicle I've tried it on has fit perfectly. The only thing that could be improved is the addition of a second metal plate with a curve in it, as it doesn't always fit perfectly with the caliper body.
The smallest clamp is slightly too large for the Mazda 3, but it still works.
For nearly 30 years, I've been replacing brakes. A C- was my go-to letter. When replacing disc brakes, you'll need a clamp and a block of wood to compress the pistons. I was replacing the disc brakes on my son's 2000 Mustang a few months ago when I realized I needed a screw in disc brake tool to complete the job. To finish the job, I was fortunate enough to be able to rent an OEM set from a local auto parts store. I don't rent often, especially when I can get a decent tool set for a reasonable price. Amazon has stepped forward. In June 2011, I purchased the Original Equipment Manufacturer 27111 Disc Brake Tool Set. So, today (July 31, 2011), I replaced the disc brakes on my 2001 Ford Explorer, and I finally got to put this set to work. I'm blown away. The only thing I could think of after I finished was that I wished I had purchased a set like this sooner. The forcing plate is shaped to fit inside the caliper, and the round piston plate fits perfectly over the piston, allowing for easy compression. There's no need to fumble around trying to figure out where the best place to anchor a C-frame is. To compress the piston, use a clamp and a wooden block. A block of wood and a C-note will never be used in my house. Clamp once more. For anyone who performs their own brake work, this is a must-have tool set. This is a high-quality set at an affordable price. It's fantastic, and I wish I'd bought one sooner.
I was replacing the rear brakes on my 2001 Mustang GT and had no idea this was required. This is what I found after doing some research, and it works perfectly! It comes highly recommended from me!.
I rented this tool from a nearby auto parts store before purchasing it. They offered to sell it to me, but at a much higher price than Amazon. This was the exact same set they had, but it was a lot less expensive. It's currently being stored in my toolbox until my 2015 Kia Soul's next brake job. I'm very pleased with the product's quality, and I plan to use it for many years to come.
I used this set for the rear brakes on a 2005 Mustang GT and it worked perfectly. This set is superior to the universal "cube" type with varying sizes of spanners on each side. It'll make things a lot easier for you. It's all of very high quality and heavy duty construction. The tool is magnetized to keep the adapter in place while you position it inside the caliper, indicating that they paid attention to details. The case is of excellent quality as well. This purchase has exceeded my expectations.
