Although the cable is working, it doesn't last very A Dorman C660985 Intermediate Parking Brake Cable fitted my 2003 Chevy Suburban without issue
3/5

I attached the forward end first, then the aft end with the tension adjuster which protruded 1/4" through the fitting that attaches the A small amount of protrusion was needed to get the nut turned. It was approximately midway along the threads where the nut and jam nut were positioned. There are 3 cable types available in the Dorman (plastic coated) line. The OEM GM cable (plastic coated) had a 7 mm OD, while the OEM GM cable size was 4 mm diameter. An OEM cable comes with an anti-static vinyl cover that is significantly thick and firmly attached The outer diameter of the abrasion sheath is 7mm. Besides the cable, Dorman offers a free installation service The vinyl sleeve is very thin, around 0. 0, like a thin sheet of paper. A 25mm lens. Since the cable was enclosed in the OEM sleeve for 17 years, it was in great shape In addition to corroding, the cable snapped adjacent to the swaged fitting at the forward end. A Dorman sleeve lasts only a few minutes at most Upon positioning the cable, it is likely to move away from the place that you choose and to wear chose to use zip ties to try to keep it centered on a frame support There is no sleeve protecting the forward portion of the cable from rubbing against the frame. My first step was to remove the rust, stick on a silicone patch, and grease the cable to extend its life (see photos with the silicone patch and without). The cables work well, but are not built to last a long time. I would expect it to live for two years without my modifications. If I use my mods, that number might be doubled.

Currently have a 2002 Surburban, and was hoping this would fit. It did and it fits perfectly. To the rear of a tire from the front door of the driver.

A drop-in replacement for the Chevrolet Suburban 4WD 2004
5/5

Half of an old cable snapped off. I simply replaced the old one with this new one, and it.

There is no information about the product
3/5

When I needed to pass inspection on this brake cable, I ordered it. However, after installing it, it was too long. The information on the product was unclear about whether it was meant for a short bed or extended bed. In this case, the cable was meant for a long bed.

For my '02 Suburban, this is the correct part (WITH Tensioner Rod)
5/5

The part I needed to repair my snapped intermediate e-drive was here I need to replace the brake cable on my Chevy Suburban 2002. Although it is the correct part for my 2002 Suburban, I think it would work on other GM cars with a similar wheelbase. I would like to make a few observations- This does have the threaded adjuster rod at the end, which is what my Suburban had on what I assume was the original Many intermediate e-mails are being sent as they have in other similar parts, as previous reviewers have said You cannot adjust the tension of brake cables with a threaded adjuster rod, so you need to release the tension beforehand By contrast, to stretch the system another place is far more difficult, and this was not the way the OEM system came about. There was no difference in the design of this cable and what I was using. It is worth pointing out that this cable is NOT equipped with an equalizer like some other cables without tensioners. An equalizer is a metal "T" that adapts the sound of the two rear speakers There is one single intermediate cable that runs to the front of the vehicle that connects the brake cables. It means you will need to reuse the one currently on your truck, or you will need to buy it Consequently, I soaked the equalizer in some PB Blaster to remove the old snapped ends and adjuster rod (much easier to do on a bench than under the truck), since my prior cable had rusted and snapped where it meets the adjuster rod. I was pleased with the performance of this new one. There is a cable connector/coupling included with this cable to connect this intermediate cable to the front E-Pole. An extension of the brake cable can be found in Interestingly, my OEM connector was rusted/congealed together, so lots of soaking with PB Blaster and a few vice grips were required in order to carefully separate the old cable without damaging the front panel. It is a cable that controls brakes.
