I just finished installing the Cable release, and it appears to be of good quality and fit for my 2001 GMC Sierra. Prior to installing the part, I watched a few YouTube videos, which is always a good idea. The most difficult part was removing the plastic clip that connects the metal bracket to the plastic part. It takes some time and effort to get it out; again, watch the videos for more information on how to remove it. Aside from that minor snag, the installation was relatively simple and straightforward.
The parking brake cable was, unfortunately, the wrong one. This replacement requires a different mounting bracket. Without this mounting bracket, I was able to obtain the cable. The original parking brake's functionality is also a pull-through design. The parking brake was released using a pivot design. It might have worked with a few tweaks, but I didn't want to waste any more time modifying the vehicle's mounting.
For the past 45 years, I've driven and used the park brake on a variety of cars and trucks. Until I bought this truck, I had never had to replace a release cable. br>I bought the cable from Advance Auto Parts about four years ago. It was more than $40 in price. 00, and the warranty was only for a year. br>I am overjoyed with this cable purchase, not only because of the low price but also because of the lifetime warranty. In addition, it was a perfect match. Hopefully, I won't have to replace this cable any time soon. br>I already know where I'll get my auto parts from in the future. br>Thank you for a great product that fits perfectly, as well as a great price and warranty.
It was a pain to put together, but it fits and functions just like the original. The location is to blame for the majority of the issues. The most time-consuming part was removing the old one, but the entire procedure should take no longer than 30 minutes.
This cable was a perfect match for the factory cable on my 2001 GMC Sierra 2500, which had broken. br>It took me ten minutes to install it, including removing the old one. It was shipped the same day and took two days to arrive. br>Worth a lot more, particularly if you're stuck with the emergency brake engaged.
This item will fit a 2004 Silverado perfectly. Despite the lack of instructions that came with the item, installation was simple. With a little common sense, it's fairly straightforward. It took about 15 minutes to complete the installation. Because the new one does not come with a rubber gasket, save it from the old one.
It took longer to install than expected, but once you see how the old one is positioned, removing and replacing it becomes a simple task. DIY project that is simple to complete.
This brake release worked fine after a few minor adjustments (I had to slightly bend the metal mounting bracket closed, and I added a small spring to the cable end). It's not the most attractive DIY fix, but it serves my purpose. br>br>Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. It shipped/arrived on time and in perfect condition.
