Questions & Answers
Exactly the same question crossed my mind as well. The part appears to be the same.
Would it be a good idea to install one on a 2001 Dodge Dakota
The newer models through 2002 are also compatible with the kit
This parking brake cable fits your car just fine, but the 2012 has a rubber gromet that I'm not sure is significant, but it will with an educated guess that this can be used on the parking brake cable.

My attention was drawn to something hanging from my pickup truck as I walked. I found out that the rusty parking brake tensioner had fallen off due to rust. Both ends of the parking brake cable were still attached to it. Having purchased this replacement, it took me for about 20 minutes to remove the old tensioner (had to use a dremel tool to cut off the rusty part) and replace it with the new one. I was able to adjust the cable and get back on the road. This fit is exact. The issue is not at all a problem. My new truck was the result of trading in that truck! My search for the perfect solution ended here.
After ordering it, it arrived in 24 hours, even though it was not part of Amazon Prime. It is a genuine Mopar part, just as it was on The safety factor alone makes this worth replacing your old rotten one. It also applies to some heavier (3500 and 2500 models) and older years. You can check another website for the Mopar part number.
Exactly what it takes to replace it. Because my original rear tensioner had rotted out and had only a 2% hold when used on the rear brakes, every time I would depress the E-brake, I'd have the rear brakes go on. Whenever I pressed the brake pedal, the pedal would drop to the floor, and the truck would roll away when I put the truck in drive. I am able to put the truck in Drive and hold the brake pedal down and the truck will not roll, even through a hill, so it is working well, however, if this part is damaged I would advise getting the rest of your brake cables checked. Please take note When you take your vehicle for an inspection, it won't pass if the rear brakes don't work.
It is a high-quality item that is easy to install and is no longer available at a dealer. It is also impossible to order it from many auto parts stores.
Now that I've installed it, I'm ready to use it. I like it a lot! The old corroded one has been replaced.
The software works as expected. I bought this for my 96 Ram 2500 pickup. It fitted perfectly.
I used it to fix my break problem and it worked perfectly. Delivery within a few hours. It has been a pleasure working with.
To get rid of the old rusted cable, I had to cut it Using a 1/2" allen wrench, I adjusted the cables with the other end while holding the other end with vise grips, so I did not need any special tools for this.
