You need a winch only if you are using one. The bracket I had was not needed on my 2012 JK with the stubby bumper.

My winch can be mounted on my bumper after installing the bracket, which moves a vacuum pump away from the axle. The hoses did not need to be removed or rerouted. We now have a reason for the two To begin with, you will not be supplied with all the hardware you need, so make sure to go to the hardware store beforehand. It is second. It is difficult to understand the instructions, and the illustrations are so dark that they cannot be useful. You only need a little mechanical aptitude and some experience to install it.
The stock bolts are welded to the bracket and I didn't have the 10mm nuts to install the pump with it. As per the instructions, you must use the factory nuts, but with the 2017 that is not possible.
Liked the product. Would buy again if I needed another.
For the price, this is a good product.
The stock bracket is not the easiest thing to do. I was quite pleased with the results. An angle grinder is not the easiest tool to use to remove a stock bracket. It would have been easier to grind the stock brackets with a die grinder.
Although I haven't put it on yet, the engineer who developed this little piece deserves commendation for their care and consideration.
