You don't need to do that! Although I am not sure if the black clips are used on all models, and Dorman probably should include a short instruction sheet, if your replacement switch doesn't fully seat into the housing, remove the clips. It will fit perfectly into the housing without modification! My son's 2002 Alero, which is the same as the Grand Am, fit perfectly in this mount. When reviewing the product and mentioning their constant clicking noise, I would think that the actual switch assembly is making that noise. If this hazard switch fixes your problem, finger jam your switch several times and test to see if this temporarily fixes the problem. This can be done by polishing some of the corrosion on your switch's.
Found the retaining assembly which holds this switch/flasher assembly hard to locate. I encountered some difficulty installing the broken retainer behind the dash, but once that was completed, it was easy to install the actual switch.
Despite the fact that the part is excellent, Oldsmobile makes it very difficult to replace. Since I first put it in, it has resolved all of my blinker intermittent issues.
It works very well. I guess I was right about the blinker issue being solved. People often end up having to glue the part because the replacement part doesn't fit right, so they have to replace It was just right for this one. It snapped right in, and the work was done.
This switch cannot lock into its receptacle mainly because it will not lock into it. Additionally, the switch button is not red like it was on the original, it is black. There does not seem to be an illumination for nighttime use. In the original, when the headlights were on, they would glow red. Having not been able to install the switch, I am unsure of the situation here. There was something wrong with this switch. I tried really hard to place it, but it just would not work. I replaced the locking tabs with this one since it had some guides over them that the original did not have. Since the guides could be removed, I tried locking the switch into place both with & without. I tried without the guides, but I had As a result of the old switch, I could repeatedly lock and unlock Put the switch into place once it has been unlocked. Hope that the problems I had were caused by tolerances that weren't quite added up and that they were not fatal. These aren't seen by the majority of people who buy them.
It was difficult to remove the shroud surrounding the instrument panel, but once that is removed, it is just plug and play. I strongly recommend this part as it is easy to install and good quality.
It's a good idea!.
It works The turn signal relay of my car was working improperly, so I installed this new switch and everything is fine now.
